She'd always known it would eventually happen, but she wasn't prepared for when Xander pulled a certain book off of Giles' shelf and the bookcase swung open to reveal an inner chamber. Every head in the library immediately lifted while Buffy herself was instantly glad that Giles had stepped out for a moment. "Ooo!" Xander exclaimed, his eyes wide with his eagerness to delve into the forbidden room. "Lookee! Giles has a secret getaway!"
Willow was so nervous that she was already almost blushing, although Buffy was the one who'd soon be blushing if her friends discovered the real reason for Giles' secret chamber. "Xander, you should put the book back."
"Oh, come on, Wills! Aren't you even in the least bit curious?"
"N-No." Oz smiled and ran his fingers over Willow's closed hand. She was curious but would never admit it or venture into Giles' privacy. "If Mister Giles wanted us to know about that room, he would have told us."
"What could Tweed Guy be hiding any way?" Cordelia queried uninterestedly.
If you only knew, Buffy found herself thinking, followed instantly by, Thank God you don't!
The library's main doors opened. Xander returned the book, closing the entrance. Buffy released a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding as the bookcase swung back to once more hide the dark rug, leather couch, and the black bra she'd forgotten. They were going to have to be a lot more careful in the future now that her friends knew their secret room was there.
"Have you found anything?" Giles asked urgently.
"Nope." Xander whistled and shoved his hands into his pockets. "Not a thing. Cordy, how about that ride home?"
Buffy smiled as her friends started to depart. She caught Giles' eye from underneath her blonde bangs. Her second smile was just for him.
The End
