I was listening to this song last Saturday on the way back from this music thing I do, and realised how appropriate it was for a Cars fan fic. I didn't get a chance to get the story until just now though, so here you go. The song by the way is Bless the Broken Road by the Rascal Flatts. They have some great songs. Anyway...

Disclaimer: I do not own Cars, all named characters and locations belong to Disney and Pixar.

Now the formality is out the way, here's the story...enjoy!

Bless the Broken Road

It was a quiet evening in Radiator Springs. The visitors would be coming through in crowds before long, but at the moment there were only a few. Sally had checked them into one of the two motels, most preferring to have a room at the Wheel Well purely for the views. It meant the café was peaceful, as the visitors had taken something back to their rooms with them. The residents sat in small groups around the room, chatting quietly to Flo and the other waitresses as they delivered food and drinks to the occupants. After a while Flo pulled an old Karaoke machine out from behind the counter and set it up in a corner. The residents of the town got up one by one to sing, starting with Sheriff.

Lightning McQueen knew exactly which song he wanted to sing straight away. He retrieved the song list while Sarge sang an old song from his army days. He quickly found the one he was after and put it down on the list with the other requests. Two songs later it was his turn. He glanced at Sally as he stood up, smiling a little.

"Um, I want to dedicate this one to all my friends in this town, but especially to Sally, because if it wasn't for her this town wouldn't be the same...and I wouldn't be here."

He nodded to Flo who was stood by the machine. She flicked the 'play' button, and Lightning began to sing.

"I set out on a narrow way many years ago…hoping I would find true love along the broken road…but I got lost a time or two…wiped my brow and kept pushing through…I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you."

Sally looked up at her boyfriend as he sang. He wasn't the cocky person he'd been when he'd arrived in the town, and he had a great voice for singing. She hummed along quietly, grinning at his choice of song.

"Every long lost dream lead me to where you are…others who broke my hear they were like northern stars…pointing me on my way into your loving arms…this much I know is true…that God blessed the broken road…that lead me straight to you."

A few chuckles ran around the café at these words. Doc especially looked quite amused.

"I think about the years I spent just passing through…I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you…but you just smile and take my hand…you've been there you understand…it's all part of a grander plan that is coming true…every long lost dream lead me to where you are…others who broke my heart they were like northern stars…pointing me on my way into your loving arms…this much I know is true…that God blessed the broken road…that lead me straight to you."

Cheers and claps rang out and echoed off the walls as Lightning stepped back from the microphone. He blushed slightly as he returned to Sally. He took her in his arms and kissed her lightly. She laughed as he pulled back.

"Great choice, Stickers."

"You liked it?"

"God blessed the broken road that lead me straight to you…you have a great sense of humour, kid." Doc clapped him on the back.

Author's Note: There you go, just a short one this time. Another one-shot to add to my collection of...um...two. I guess I prefer the longer stories. Anyway, like I said, that song seemed quite appropriate seeing as how Lightning ended up in Radiator Springs. Hope you lot enjoyed this story, I sure enjoyed writing it, mostly because I love that song and I was listening to it when I wrote this...Reviews would be appreciated.
