Nightmares (A Rizzles Fanfiction)
Maura Isles glanced at her alarm clock warily. 4:00 A.M. She groaned, soon realizing that she might wake up Jane. She turned to her left. There was Jane. Sleeping soundly, and peacefully. Unlike Maura, who, on the other hand, was having nightmares. Trying again once more, she shut her eyes and began to fall asleep.
Maura once again found herself in the familiar surroundings of the Boston Police Apartment's examination room. Except, there was no dead body this time. Maura soon found herself at the same starting point of her last dream. Pinning Jane to the wall. "Maura! What're you doing!?" Jane shouted at Maura, looking quite furious. "I-I can't take it anymore, Jane! I-I love you! Not like a sister, but as a lover!"Jane exclaimed, her voice shaking with fear of Jane's very reaction. Jane broke free from the unstable Doctor's grip, and took a step forward, the two partners facing back to back. "Maura...I'm sorry but, I can't return those feelings to you..." Jane said, no emotion showing in her voice. Maura grabbed Jane's arm. "N-No! P-Please, why!?" Maura asked, holding back tears. "I'm just...Not into you, Maura. I'm sorry, but if you can't accept that." Jane began to say. "I can!" Maura tried to say. But of course, this was a nightmare. A nightmare where Maura had no control of what she was doing or saying. "I can't!" is what came out. "Then I'm leaving. Moving somewhere where I won't see YOU ever again. Goodbye, Dr. Isles, pleasure doing business with you." Jane said, shaking Maura's hand off, and walking away. The world faded to black as Jane walked out the door…
"No!" Maura shouted as she jumped off the bed. Jane rose up quickly, only to find her partner drenched in tears. "Maura...What's the matter? You were only dreaming, it's okay." Jane reassured her shaken friend, wiping the tears away with her thumb. Maura hugged Jane tightly. "Promise me something.." Maura began shakily, sniffing. "Anything." Jane replied, hugging back. "Promise me that no matter what happens, you won't leave me." Maura said. Jane's mind began to ponder. What the hell was she dreaming about, she thought. "I promise." Jane told her, her voice full of the usual confidence and reassurance.
The two women have up on sleeping and made coffee. They weren't going back to sleep anytime soon. "Maura..." Jane began, and Maura looked at her nervously. "What was your nightmare about?" Maura did her best not to cry again. "I..I told you a secret..And you hated me for it..." Maura answered, taking a sip of her coffee. "Maura, you know that no matter what, I won't hate you. Now, what was the secret?" Jane asked, trying not to sound too hopeful. After all, it COULD be what she's always dreamed of hearing. Maura hesitated. "I, Maura Dorthea Isles, am in love with you, Jane Clementine Rizzoli." Maura finally admitted, blushing. Maura looked at Jane worriedly. Jane just grinned. "And I am in love with you too, Maura." Jane told her.
Maura couldn't believe what she heard! But before she could say anything, Jane got up and embraced her. Ohhh, so warm, Maura thought. Maura looked up at Jane, and the two leaned in into a warm, passionate, kiss. Ever since that night, Maura Dorthea Isles no longer had nightmares about Jane Clementine Rizzoli.
