Samus groaned, of all the planets she could have landed on, she HAD to have landed on a swamp planet.
It seemed that her ship was constantly getting damaged, forcing her to make emergency landings, and this time she had to land on the muddiest, swampiest ball of vegetation in the galaxy.
It wasn't that she hated mud, no, she got dirty all the time, and she liked it.
It was the Murkers
Murkers where a semi-sentient species that could be found in almost any swamp. They were comprised entirely out of living mud, which they could throw at you to temporarily blind you, or, if you didn't have armor, kill you. Not only that, but the little sons of metroids were almost impossible to hit, you would lock on to one, fire a missile or a charge shot, and they would just sink into the ground and reappear a few feet away, they were practically unkillable. Luckily, her suit would protect her from their attacks, but getting hit square in the face with a giant glob of living mud was never a nice experience.
Infact, Murkers where her fourth least favorite creature in the cosmos, right under metroids, space-pirates, and lawyers.
A ball of goo smacked into her visor. Whipping it away, she fired a few blasts at the offending mud-imp, which slipped away. She could have sworn she heard the little devil laugh.
She looked around, according to her scanners, there was a giant energy reading around here, probably from a generator of some kind. After hacking through the foliage, she finally reached her destination, and it wasn't what she thought it would be.
It looked like one of the dark/light world portals she had encountered a few years back, only it gave off an odd, green glow.
She tried to scan it, but the energy level interfered, and the scan just turned up gibberish.
Her thoughts were interrupted when a rather small Murker, only half a meter high, appeared at her feet and started to slam its body against her ankle.
She couldn't help but grin, raising her leg, she stomped on the offending creature, flattening its gooey body with a satisfying squish.
Continuing closer to the relic, Samus noticed that it had some odd symbols carved on it, again, her scan visor failed her and brought up nothing but gibberish. She was about to turn back when she heard an odd, sucking sound.
Wheeling around, she saw what appeared to be a giant Murker, almost five meters tall, looming over her. Apparently, stepping on the little mud man from before hadn't been such a hot idea.
She locked on to the giants head and fired a missile strait into its face. The monsters head exploded in a shower of goo, but simply reformed again a few seconds later. Swinging its massive arm, the giant Murker slammed her right in the gut, sending her flying backwards, and into the portal.
Link sighed, sitting down at his camp, he loved nights like this, when he could just gaze up at the stars without worrying about something sneaking up on him. It felt good to just relax every now and again and just watch the tiny twinkles of light in the sky. Slowly sitting up, he stroked Eponas mane. He had heard rumors about strange lights in this area, but he had seen nothing. It had probably jus been some fairies, just a false alarm. He wondered what Zelda was doing, it had been three months since he had saved her from Gannon and his minion, Zant, and the princes had resumed control of Hyrule quickly, but life without their princes had been hard, and the kingdom was still recovering from Gannons takeover.
At that moment, a bright light flashed, and an armored figure fell to the ground at Links feet.
