When Magneto attacks Manhattan, the X-Men get extra help from an unexpected hero: Batman Beyond!
"Listen up, X-Men: Magneto has escaped from prison and is attempting to hold the Ambassadors of Egypt hostage for a ransom note of money from the Federal Reserve! You must get there and stop him! By the way, you'll also have backup…He should be there any minute. Just keep your eyes on the sky." Xavier said over the intercom as the X-Men were heading for Manhattan City Hall. "Huh. We've never had backup before, only if it's a rare urgency. And what did he mean by 'look at the sky'?" Scott asked curiously before he eventually realized who Xavier was talking about. "He's coming." He whispered. "Who? The unknown backup?" Jean asked. "He does have a name you know. They say he's a creature of the night, a figure hailing from a place known as Gotham City." Scott babbled excitedly. "You don't mean…" Kurt asked. "Batman." Scott whispered in Kurt's ear. "You rang?" A voice called out. Everyone turned around to see a young man dressed in a black costume with pointed ears. He needed no introduction. "Oh my god. This is unbelievable. The Dark Knight. Here, in New York?! Boy, is Magneto in for a challenge!" Bobby grinned. "Ah, so you X-nuisances decided to crash my plan, eh?! What can you do?" Magneto boasted. "Allow me to introduce a very important guest. Scott, lights." Jean ordered. "What are you…" Magneto said before his eyes went wide when he saw the familiar symbol. "Batman?! He's supposed to be from DC?!" He screamed. "You must be Magneto. Pretty powerful for a melodramatic nut." Batman joked as he hurled Magneto into a nearby trash dumpster. "Yeah! Show him what you've got! Rogue, music!" Scott ordered. "Ah, my theme song. Fitting example." Batman grinned as he flew off to continue battling Magneto while the radiospeakers played the Batman Beyond theme. "Hey, that flying guy over there. Is that…Batman?! In New York?! Oh my gosh! Mr. Jameson is gonna want pictures of this!" Peter Parker gasped in joy as he headed for the Daily Bugle. "As you can see, everyone is New York is experiencing Bat-mania, because believe it or not, the Dark Knight himself is here in Manhattan this very evening, helping out the X-Men battle Magneto. And from the looks of it, the NYPD has turned on their Bat Signal as a homage to tonight's man of the hour." Gwen Stacy reported.
I do not own X-Men: Evolution or Batman Beyond. I've been wanting to do this crossover for a LONG time. And remember…good guys STILL wear black!
