This is my first bones fan fic so please be nice, I hope you enjoy and tell me rather or not I should continue it. As always REVIEW please.

The Sins of Man

Chapter 1-New Families

Temperance sat in the chair farthest from her colleagues, watching their celebration, a celebration she should have been enjoying, Zack after all had just went from being her student to her equal. She had enjoyed the celebration for a few fleeting moments but then she spoke to Booth, and he told her of the murder, and she blamed herself. She pleaded with him to let her father go, and he had murdered again. Her inner misery did not go unnoticed.

"You didn't know what he would do Bones." He states as he takes the seat next to her. She lets a silence settle between them.

"But I should have stopped him, it's my job."

"No your job is to find the dead justice."

"And I let him get away. I keep thinking how he is like Epps."

"Temperance, your father is nothing like Epps"

"They both make a game out of murder."

"You're father was protecting you by sending that message to anybody that might harm you."

"I don't need protection, I have you for that." Seeley Booth smiles at his partners unwavering faith in him, it was the same faith she had in him as she was buried alive. That's what had kept her from giving up. To him finding her had been enough, but the celebration that night had topped it off. She had been a whole different person that night and he wondered if that is the Bones that would have been, joyful and careless, happy to be alive. His bones was none of that, his Bones was blunt and to the point. He pulls her into a hug, lingering longer than he knows he should.

"You know how I said I would hug you when I was scared; it's kind of hard to hug you when it's always you I'm scared about."

"Well stop being scared about me then."

"That's impossible when your so pig headed."

"Oh and your not?"

"As enjoyable as this is to watch, we have to get going, they are sending the body to the lab." Cam says as she watches the two interact. A smile crosses her face as they all head back to work.

"Bones you don't need to be here, its been a long few days. Why don't you let Zack take this."

"My father is in hiding, there is no way Zack will be able to find him, and I don't want his first case to turn up a bust." Booth takes a seat next to his partner wondering how she became so strong.

"You do realize I will never bring any other squint squad members on the field with me, well with the exception of maybe Angela, but that's not really her thing. Anyways the point is that I only need Zack to ID the body, I can do the rest."

"I know I just don't want to be alone right now."

"How many times do I have to tell you, you aren't alone? You, Bones, are surrounded by people who love you and would do anything to keep you safe. We may not be your family by blood, but we are your family." Brennen sits for a minute thinking about what Booth has just said to her. Booth cautiously places his arm around her and allows her to lean into him. "You don't have to deal with this alone, we are all here and none of us are going anywhere. How about I take you home we order out, and I'll sleep on the couch."

"You don't have to do that, and what about Cam."

"Don't worry about Cam, and I know I don't have to, I want to."

"Than I'd like for you to stay."

"Good, Now that that's taken care of lets go."
