A Question Finally Asked

by: Neptune Princess

It had been two years since Inuyasha had found Kagome in her own time. He was currently lounging ona sofa in his apartment thinking about the dream he'd had the previous night. It had involved his two love interests and his dilemma; the dilemma being who he would choose in the end, Kagome or Kikyou. Fortunately, although his mind was confused, his heart and subconcious weren't.

In the dream,Kiyou had been in danger first but,in his hanyou form, he hadn't been able to save her and she died as he watched. Amazinly he had felt nothing but sympathy for her; no tears had fallen. The scene then changed and it was Kagome in danger. Inuyasha even transformed into a full youkai but he was still too weak to save her. His heart wrenched as he saw her limp body fall to the ground and was quickly replaced with hatred towards all youkai when he saw the satisfied look in the demaon's eyes. After an hour of killing all youkai in sight, he fell into a misery such as he had never known.

Inuyasha had woken up in a cold sweat and panting, knowing what he had to do, wanted to do. Several weeks ago Inuyasha had bouth an engagement ring for Kagome. He had intended to give it to her right after he bought it but somehow Kikyou had come through the well and confronted him. Just being near her threw him into confussion, but he managed to make her leave with the promise of never bothering him again.

Inuyasha sat up and desided that it was time for him to finish what he had started. He walked down the hall to his bedroom door; it creaked as he opened it. There, he saw Kagome on his bed, still waring a large shirt of his as a nightgown, looking at the two pictures on his nightstand. One was of the group: him, her,Miroku,Sango,Kirara,Shippou, and even Kaede. He watched her eyes travel over to the second one and winced; the picture was of Kikyou. He had, in the past, taken Kagome's camera and had taken a polaroid of Kikyou one night.

'I knew I forgot to replace something.'

She looked a little too sad for him to handle so he called her name to snap her out of it. "Kagome?" It worked, she quickly tore her gaze from the pictures and acted as if she hadn't been looking at them. "Oh. You can come in, this is your room."

'It'll be yours soon too.' Inuyasha thought to himself. "I was being polite."

"That's a change," Kagome said turning to face him. When she saw him though, he was not standing, but down on one knee smiling and looking deeply into her eyes.

"Wha...What are you doing Inuyasha!" Kagome asked, her face as red as the kimono he used to wear.

"Be quiet and listen. Do you know how hard it is to balance on one knee?" He took a deep breath and asked her the questin he had wanted to ask so long ago when he had been no older than 16 and she 15.

"Will you be my bride, Kagome Higurashi?"

Kagome looked at him with tears in her eyes and asked, "No interruptions?" Inuyasha shook his head no still grinning from ear to ear.

"Yes, I will be your bride Inuyasha Tatewaki!" and without a second thought she bounded into Inuyasha's waiting arms.

AN: This is just a one-shot I wrote about how Inuyasha knows who he loves, but not really. Basically Inuyasha lived for 500 years and found Kagome. Sometimes she stays over just for company. He remembers everything but to her it was just yesterday. I don't know if I should turn this into a story or not. Review and tell me what you think. Later!
