Falling Raindrops
I want to dedicate this story to my favorite cousins, who I hope are reading this now. This is my first story so please tell me if you don't like it and why or if you do like it. ENJOY!:)
Disclaimer: I don't own twilight.
"Ray." I could hear someone's voice calling. "Ray, wake up honey." I didn't want to wake up. I was having the same strange, wonderful dream I'd been having for the last two weeks. I was running…no, I couldn't be running because I wasn't tripping. I looked down. No, I wasn't running…I was riding.
I had absolutely no idea what I was riding. It was just too huge to tell from the top. I felt with my hands. Fur. Was it a bear? No, bears didn't get this big. Wait, where was I? I could see things zipping by me so fast that it was too hard to tell what they were. It looked like I was in a forest. It was very green and wet.
Suddenly the creature stopped, and I almost flew off. I wondered randomly if you could feel pain in a dream. But I grabbed a handful of fur just i time, and then jumped down. This was where the dream always ended, but I knew that something else had to happen first.
I heard a stick crack behind me and I quickly turned around, knowing what I'd see next and couldn't wait to see it. I saw a beautiful face, and then it disappeared. Then I did something I'd never done in this dream before. I whirled around to look at the creature that had brought me here. It looked like…a wolf! But wolves didn't get this big either…did they?
Then I couldn't see it anymore. It disappeared, and the forest went with it. "Ray, honey, you'll miss the plane!" My eyes snapped open. I jumped up and then I stared at my mom, confused, before realizing where I was.
I was in my room, and my mom was watching me, her eyes anxious. Then I realized what she had said and I jumped out of my bed. "What time is it?" I gasped. She glanced at her watch. "9:30 hurry! The plane leaves at 10:15!" She said urgently. I got dressed quickly and glanced at my alarm clock. Damn it! I'd forgotten to plug it in after I'd fixed it last night. No wonder I'd slept in late.
I ate a pop tart downstairs and brushed my teeth, then ran to the car. My mom handed me a hairbrush, grinning. "Your hair looks like a rat made a nest in it, Ray." My mom, Renee, called me Ray because I didn't like my real name, Rain, because it sounded so gloomy, and because I loved things like sunshine.
Sunshine would be one of the things I would miss from Phoenix, Arizona when I went up to Forks, Washington to stay with my dad, Charlie, for a while. Renee and Charlie were divorced, the result of a hasty marriage. Then a year ago my mom fell in love with a man named Phil, but she was more cautious so she waited to make sure she really knew Phil before marrying him a week ago. They were going on their honeymoon now, so I was going to spend some quality time with Charlie.
I took the hairbrush and started brushing. When we got to the airport, I hugged Renee goodbye before getting on the plane. I fell asleep quickly, even though I'd slept late that morning, but the dream didn't come.
