"You are going to get us in trouble, Trouble. Again."
"Shush. At this rate you are going to get us in trouble with your boisterous noise."
"I wouldn't be making so much noise if I wasn't blindfolded!"
"Shhhhh!"
Winter continued to guide Jacin up the spiraling staircase. It was past the palace curfew, and the two were supposed to be fast asleep. Winter had been waiting anxiously all day to show Jacin what she had in store.
Jacin's hand was in Winter's, and his palm was beginning to sweat. He had never liked surprises. They always made him antsy and slightly nervous, but he would never admit to that.
Finally, they came to a stop. Winter took off Jacin's blindfold.
They were on the roof of the palace. Above them, the stars glimmered and lights danced across their vision. Below them, a small picnic with cake and champagne was set.
Jacin thought he could get used to these kinds of surprises.
"What's all this?" Jacin asked.
"Just wait." Winter said with a smile.
"What for what?"
"Lay down with me."
Jacin sighed and laid on top of a plush blanket. Winter lounged beside him and intertwined their hands. As they stared up into endless space, a brilliant streak of light sped across the sky.
"Was that-?"
"Yes. That was an asteroid. It flies by Luna every 116 years. And you have the best view in all of Luna."
Winter beamed at Jacin, and he smiled back at her.
Winter was definitely worth the trouble.
