"You know my brother would never give up his powers for anything. So why do you find that story so romantic?"
"I don't know," Alex heard the redhead mutter.
"Uh uh, you have to know. I mean, I know why I do."
Harper repositioned herself on the bed, making sure that she was facing towards Alex.
"Why?" she inquired.
The darker haired girl turned her gaze to her fingernails. "I don't know," she responded, shrugging her shoulders, mimicking her friend.
"Alex!" Harper exclaimed.
Alex chuckled at the other girl's reaction, prompting a small laugh to pass Harper's lips.
"Why should I tell you? You didn't tell me…"
"Come on, you know I'm going to tell you anyway. What does it matters who goes first?" she probed.
"You always go first." Alex sighed.
"No," Harper said gently. "You make me go first, there's a difference."
Seeing no change in her friend, the redhead decided to take another approach. With a soft smile, Harper reached out placing a hand on the brunette's shoulder.
"There's a first time for everything, you know."
Another sigh erupted from Alex's lips,
"I don't know," she muttered, moving her eyes off her nails and onto the quilt beneath them.
"Uh uh, you have to know. I mean, I know why I do." Harper said, repeating her friend's words verbatim.
"I guess it's one of the whole principles of the thing, you know?" the brunette spoke, her voice so quiet Harper had to move closer in order to hear.
"One of the principles of what?"
Alex tore her eyes away from the quilt and onto her best friend,
"Love," she stated.
"And what do you think one of the principles of love is, Alex?" the redhead asked.
"That if, you know, one day you have to make the choice between keeping what you have with the person you love and with siding with everything that you've ever known, in order to keep the ones that love you happy, that you would do what you have to do what's best for you. That you do what's best for the both of you."
"What do you think you would do, if you ever had to make that choice?"
"Knowing me? I would sacrifice something that means so much to me for the person that I love the most. The person that I feel as though I couldn't exist without." A gentle smile tugged at the corner of the brunette's lips. "The person who gets who I am and that simply makes me, me." She replied.
Harper returned her friend's smile tenfold.
"Wow, that was-" she paused, unable to come an answer that could rival Alex's. "Wow!"
"Yeah, I know," the wizard replied before shrugging. "I'm awesome."
A silent laugh entered Harper's system before it quickly left.
"Yeah Alex, you are awesome." She replied, with a shake of her head and a roll of her eyes.
"Stop rolling your eyes," the brunette said her back to Harper.
The redhead's lips immediately parted, confusion etched on her features. Wondering how her friend saw her.
Alex turned around smiling before pointing her thumb behind her, "Mirror." She stated.
"Oh!" Harper exclaimed.
Alex returned to her original position on the bed, her eyes finding her and the redhead reflections across the room.
"Harper?" she asked quietly.
"Yeah?"
Keeping her eyes level with the other girl's reflection, she smiled.
"I love you,"
Raising her head slowly, Harper noticed where the brunette's attention lay. Smiling back, she placed her chin on one of Alex's shoulders while her arm draped across the other.
"I love you too, Alex." She replied, her eyes never leaving their reflections.
A/N: This came to me after I saw the Wizards of Waverly Place movie. Honestly, this was supposed to go in another direction, but it just had a mind of its own.
I kind of like the way that it ended. What do you think?
