Her heart skips a beat.
She is just metres from her, watching her stride along with confidence, her head held high, blonde hair flowing behind her; impossibly perfect.
Instantly, she knows.
Danielle knows it is the woman she has spent her whole life dreaming of.
Time reaches a standstill and she wants to call out, to run and fling her arms around the familiar stranger, but her legs seems to have frozen.
She must feel eyes on her and her head snaps around to catch Danielle staring.
Their eyes meet.
The sun sparkles kindly against her face and a bemused but genuine smile lights up her features as she nods at her in acknowledgment.
Danielle's breathe snags in her throat, the apprehensive joy she feels rendering her useless.
Then she beams back, her grin as bright as the sky.
For the first time in her life, she smiles at her mother.
