BEEP, BEEP, BEEP.

The alarm pounded relentlessly, calling for the sleeping resident to wake. Brown eyes opened sluggishly, and Hank grunted, reaching over and swatting the alarm. He swung his legs over the edge of the bed and sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. With a loud-rather abrupt-yawn, he stood and made his way to his dresser. Once he'd picked out clothes, he made his way into the bathroom.

The mirror told him he was tired. He asked the mirror "to shave, or not to shave?" With a once-over of his reflection, he decided... to shave. So he went on a mission to locate shaving cream. Once he'd found it, he applied it... thinking of his father. When he had been a child, he'd wondered why his dad put "yogurt" on his face in the morning. Now he understood why, and that it was not yogurt. The thought brought a smile to his face.

Within ten minutes, Hank was dressed and ready to head to work. He'd showered last night, so that saved him another five or ten minutes. On his way out, he made coffee, poured it in a to-go mug, and grabbed his phone. As soon as the phone was in his hand, he started thinking about Nick. Had Nick called? He hit the button at the top of his phone. Nope. So then there had been no wesen related things going on that he needed to know. That was good-probably. It made the "normal" days a bit boring though, if he was being honest.

Once in his car, Hank put the key in the ignition, and started it up. He patted at the controls without looking, trying to feel his way to the radio button. Eventually, he found it and tapped it on. "Animals" by Maroon Five was playing. Hank gave a pointed look at the radio and switched it to another. That song took on a creep-ish meaning when applied to his life... as all he could think of was wesen. He pulled a face and laughed. He couldn't help it.

He pulled out of his driveway and was off to work.

It wasn't long before he arrived at the station. Hank hopped out of his vehicle, closed the door and locked it behind himself. He strode toward the building, jogging up the stairs at a good clip. His progress was halted by a "Hey." Hank looked up to see Nick coming out of the building. "Hey, Nick." He started walking again changing course to follow Nick, who was walking the other direction.

Nick gave him a quick smile that was gone the next second as he started talking. "New case. Call just came in. The victims were..." Nick paused and looked around then leaned a bit closer to Hank to continue his explanation, "...the victims were found dead in their homes, doors locked, with no external signs of death. When the M.E. looked at them, she found the cause of death-victims insides..." he paused, bringing his hands up to emphasize his words, "...literally exploded. But again, no external signs..."

"Uh... okay. So, you're thinking wesen?"

"The captain is."

"And you look so interested because you think so too, don't you?"

Nick smiled again and tilted his head forward. "Yes I do. You know me well."

"So we're headed to the scene?"

"Yeah."

And so the day had only just begun. Hank wondered when he would EVER have a "normal day." They seemed fewer and fewer all the time. But as he had so much to do, he found he didn't miss them all that much.
