Death and destruction follow wherever he goes. His moniker, his name is the 'Doctor,' because that's what he does, he goes around fxing the universe, because the only one who can do that now is him. Perhaps, though, he shouldn't be called that, the 'lonely god' really did suit him more; he had had many companions, yet they all left, and even when they were present, they never really understood. How could they? He had control of time, could pretty much live forever. He had destroyed entire races and planets! He had to live with that knowledge, he had to make those kind of decisions. He knew it took a while for them to realize, but he had a sneaking suspicion that was partly why they all left. Because not once did his companions think that traversing the stars was boring. They said they would say stay forever, but how could they? They didn't have forever. They aged, and he only seemed to be getting younger physically. He was perpetually alone. He couldn't share that burden with anyone, they wouldn't understand, and he was the last. The vey last. And they didn't understand, they worried. They didn't know the half of it. They all said he ran, but they didn't fully understand what he was running from. And he was scared for the day it would all catch up to him, he had a niggling feeling it would be the day he truly died. So he ran harder. Because that was the curse of being a Time Lord; being alone, baring the universe's troubles on is shoulder with no one to share it with. It was power, lonliness, a burden, and unending running. And it was a curse, and like all good faerie tale curses, it lasted forever. But unlike the faerie tales, there wasn't a way to break it. That's what it meant to be the last of the Time Lords, to bare the brunt of the everlasting to curse. That's what it meant to be the Doctor.

A/N: This was more than a page on paper. Anyways, this is my first Doctor Who fic, I'm rather proud of it. I've only just gotten into the fandom really, about two weeks ago or something like that. I'm on season six now, shows how little of a life I have. The Last of the Time Lords really stuck with me. David Tennant is my favorite doctor, and John Simm seems to be many people's favorite Master, I know he's my favorite villain of the series. Anyhow, this is more meant to be the Doctor in general, to be any Doctor, but I think it sort of ended up being a bit ten-ish. But yes, I hope you enjoyed it, feel free to review, and constructive criticism is highly appreciated.
