The Lucky One

She smiled adoringly at them. Looking down on the sleeping forms of her twin girls, Parker couldn't believe the life she was living now. Wife and, now, mother. She carefully caressed her babies' cheeks, marveling at the softness of them. They were her world now, along with her better half.

"Daddy's almost home, sweethearts," the former Centre operative softly whispered, not wanting to wake them up. Never did she felt this happy before in her life. It frightened her to know that this wouldn't have happened if she didn't gathered up her courage and did something unimaginable to those dwelling at the Centre.

She left. For him. Parker tried to stop loving him, tried to deny the bond between them. She couldn't. Not even after being sent away from him for years and fed lies about him. Not even when she was charged by Daddy to bring him back to Hell. She will always love him. He was her life. Now, watching her babies, her family was everything to her.

He was the one who convinced her. Never appreciative of poetry until he wrote them to her, for her, about her. Leaving be-my-valentines at her home, in her car, and, insanely for him, in her office. He would never go away even when she ordered him to. How glad she was that he didn't listen to her.

However, it was his novel, "The Littlest Valentine" that woke her up to the kind of misery she was in and what he was offering her. His love. A different destiny. A new beginning.

She took it and never looked back.

Ever since she finally found the courage to run away with him, she didn't regret for one moment her decision. Not when she was looking at the living proof of her fateful choice. The life she dreamt of as a young girl who still believes in her knight in shining armor and living happily ever after.

She felt his warm arms go around her waist and his warm kiss on her neck. "A penny for your thoughts," Jarod asked his amazing and wonderful wife, while gazing at his sleeping beauties.

Parker turned around in his embrace and kissed him passionately. Finally releasing him, love shining bright in her steel blue eyes she told him, "I'm the lucky one."

A/N: This started out as a songfic. It was inspired by Amy Grant's hit "The Lucky One". But since RIAA a.k.a. the music industry is more draconian as far as copyrights are concerned than the rest of the entertainment industry vis-a-vis fanfics, I left out the lyrics to her song.

So please listen to her song as you read this. It'll help you understand why I wrote this from Parker's POV. Amy Grant's video is the main inspiration. Looking at Amy Grant, I can imagine Miss Parker in her spot.

As time permits, I might post a few more of these. I hope you enjoy.

Please read and review. Thanks.
