The Yearly 365 Challenge

Prompt: #10 [Location] - Fox Forest

"Do you think that this forest was filled with foxes when someone discovered it; and that's why it's called Fox Forest?" Veronica tilted her head sideways as she smiled slight upward's into Betty's downward head.

"Interesting thought." Betty said in slight wonderment. "I never once thought of that whenever I came here. I always thought perhaps there were a lot of fox colored flowers surrounding the area."

"It's beautiful and peaceful space." Veronica softly traced Betty's jaw line. "Thank you for sharing it with me."

Betty rested her head on Veronica's shoulder as she relaxed against the ground. "The only other person I shard this spot with was Polly." She rested the palm of her hand against Veronica's stomach. "We were having a family picnic ... for once everyone was getting along. Mom and Dad were both napping and Polly said I could explore on my own as long as she was within calling distance from her. Which meant she had to have sight of me." She thought back to one of the very few times that the Cooper family honesty had a loving family moment in her childhood. "I was a little out of her eye sight when I discovered this place. I was in awe. I wanted to keep this place special. Where only I knew of it. I knew that I couldn't come here on my own; I was only six after all. But I thought if we ever had another family picnic then I could find it again. But I wanted to share it with Polly. She would understand and realize how special this place was. She would help protect it." Betty fell silent as she reflected. "That day was the only day that I came to this place for years. It wasn't until Polly was old enough to be able to be in charge of me away from mom and dad - that we managed to come back."

Veronica felt warmth flow through her system as she realized that Betty held her in such a special place in her heart and soul. In such a short time since they had known each other. She rests her hand on Betty's waist and gently pull her a little tighter against her side.

"Now I'm bringing you here." Betty sighed as she rested. "I just thought this little piece of small town earth may be something your soul had been looking for also."

Veronica softly smiled. "I believe so." She breathed out. Her head turned so she could met Betty's steady soft blue green eyes. "I believe so." She whispered. "Thank you."
