Storm winds breezed across the city of Omashu while king Bumi observed from his post from the palace. He squinted his eyes to see further through the storm only to be meet with more rain and darkness. With a blinding flash of lightning the city shook and the king fell back from his post back into his room where he slowly got back up. He got up and walked back to the place of his observation of the city to see what has happened.

The storm seemed to be dying down from what he has observed; he looked out in the distance to see what has changed from the storm. His reaction was a complete shock, the first thing that caught his attention was the bridge that connected the city was in complete ruin, further away from the city he could see a huge grass plain stretching out for miles and miles with little towns and villages dotting the land, a much larger city in ruins separated by a large river in the middle with several fires still burning leaving a trail of smoke in the air, further, he could see more plains and several ruined villages up ahead from his location, lastly the one thing most of all that he saw that changed is a wall of tall mountains stretching in all directions from east to west with a huge dark cloud surrounding the land. He could see fire burning upwards over the mountains. He thought that a volcano was the cause of all that dark clouds but he has never seen dark clouds in that big of an area. He wondered if anything could survive in those evil lands of shadow and ash. He then wondered if anyone was in the large ruined city or if he could see anyone in the little villages along the plains. He quickly ordered his advisors to figure out what is going on and if there is a solution to this problem and if there is a way to fix it.

His advisors obeyed his orders to see what they could do about it. In the meantime he had a new land to explore. He ordered his troops to go to the surrounding villages to see what has happened and maybe to check what has happened to the huge city that is in this new land. He hoped that this strange new land is not filled with dangers and enemies like the old world of which he was from.
