Fatal Attraction
Chapter 1
Perhaps it was the way he styled his hair.
Or perhaps the way his trademark smirk brings out the color of his eyes.
Or perhaps the way his dark clothes go hand in hand with his personality.
Or perhaps the manner in which he carries himself - confident, carefree yet self-conscious.
Or the fact that he never angers easily and always sees the humor in everything.
Or the fact he's reached perfection.
In her eyes at least.
It was painful.
This deep unhealthy attraction she had for her twin.
It started a few months back - at some carnival she had already forgotten. The memories jumbled except one, that specific one where they were forced by their friends to ride an evil machine similar to the Thunder coaster - their shared fear among other things.
Something about overcoming their fears or something along those lines.
They had held hands, as in comfort.
And then the unfortunate happened.
Somehow the rollercoaster made an unceremonious stop. Their faces - which were already inches apart - specifically their lips met.
And they had never spoken of that day since then. They made a vow to never bring that up again or think about it - a vow she wasn't able to fulfill, she was fairly certain he didn't either - but he was proficient at masking his uncomfortableness - understandable considered his nonchalant façade was one he easily pulled of given a distasteful or weird scenario - it was second nature to him.
She sighed and turned.
The much needed sleep long forgotten - what with him constantly on her mind.
- Line Break -
"Max, do you mind coming with me to the mall?"
He was busy reassembling new parts to his recent rocket.
"Ugh Phoebe, can't you ask Orange to go with you?" Was that annoyance? Or does the simple fact him of spending time with her that much disturbing and uncool?
"Cherry isn't my brother Max, you are." Her voice strayed between pleading and begging.
"And your brother is currently busy, so tough."
"Please?" Her voice unnaturally low.
"No, Phoebe. Don't you have Superhero training to do?" He was annoyed. Yes.
She frowned. And pondered.
"If you come with me, I'll buy you those EarBlasters you've been talking about, I hear they're on sale."
She blinked as he suddenly appeared at his door looking at her expectantly. "Well, what are you waiting for? Let's go already!" he ushered impatiently.
She just smiled.
- Line Break -
He has been sitting here for over 5 minutes. Watching as people walk by. And that creepy security dude sending him a nasty look which he responded to with a sneer of his own. And the two girls who walked by giggling when he winked at them.
He rubbed his temples, swearing lightly.
"Max."
He raised his head and froze momentarily.
"How do I look?" she asked whirling a bit as the short... very short orange dress with little patterns on the side did a bad job at hiding her thighs.
He swallowed, unable to look away. He'd be a fool if he was to deny the fact Phoebe looked... in a weird sense or way sexy. [But she didn't need to know that]
Breathing lowly he heaved and tried to meet her eyes.
"What difference does it make? You look the same as before."
"Oh." She really thought she looked great - appealing more even. Atleast that's what the girl at the dressing room told her.
He looked at her expression and groaned.
"You-look, good I guess. Not half bad."
He was startled when he felt lips on his cheek.
"What was that for?" he asked weirded out rubbing away the lingering feel of her lips on his face.
"Its the first time you said something sweet about me." she answered simply. "... and you didn't ditch me, so that counts too."
Max coughed awkwardly. "Yeah, are you done yet?"
"No, there is still one more I'd like to try on." she said strutting away knowing for sure Max's eyes were trailing her.
- Line Break -
"What do you think?"
He couldn't answer. So his eyes did.
He deduced she wore the new bra he was certain she was going to buy. Constricted breasts lecitated by the faded orange bra - speaking of faded he held his breath when he could make out her nipples poking out of the nearly transparent garment.
'Bad Max, she's your sister.' He thought - his breathing caught in his throat, the warmth of his cheeks made him heed inwardly. Was it him or did the temperature just ascend in here? His gaze involuntarily dropped to her thighs.
She wore the same skirt as before, but that still didn't diminish the arousal brewing beneath - tempting.
She was enthralled. Having this kind of effect on him was all she needed as gathered ammunition.
She shook her head noticing people were beginning to stare.
"Max.."
He breathed and his eyes met hers.
"Are you alright?" She looked worried and... complacent? Nah, he's just seeing things.
"Y-Yeah." he stammered glancing to the side. "Can we go get my Ear blasters now?"
"You still haven't told me how I look?"
"Does my opinion really matter that much?"
"I wouldn't have brought you if it didn't."
"You're just saying that. You practically reeled me into coming with you, probably even lied about the EarBlasters too." he said changing the course of conversation not really comfortable with seeing his sister dressed that way. Or the fact she looked too appealing with what she wore.
"... You don't trust me much do you?" she asked softness and self sympathy seeping into her voice.
He did. He did trust trust her. But why was saying it so difficult? It couldn't be for the simple fact of seeing more of her skin could it?
"Its fine if you don't. I understand we don't get along that much... I just thought spending much time together might be a solution to sort out our differences." she lied smoothly fooling him in her wordly transfictions.
Max turned slightly keeping her in line of his vision in the corner of his eye.
He was about to open his mouth when his phone rang.
Retracting it he put it to his ear.
"Oyster..." he said moving a distance away to keep his conversation private.
- Line Break -
"Oh, you're dressed... in new clothes." Max observed looking her over a bit.
She bought a few more outfits. Hence the bags clutched in her hands.
Phoebe smiled and wordlessly handed him her bags.
Without hesitation, Max grabbed her bags as they made for the other side of the mall coupled with stand stalls.
That surprised her.
"You're in a good mood.." she stated.
"What do you mean?"
"You took my bags without compliant or being a jerk about it."
He stopped momentarily and glanced at her. "Look, about what you said earlier, you were right. And I apologise for what I said, I do trust you. We cool? Because I'm not saying that twice." Max said hoping to sound sincere.
She chuckled.
"What's so funny? I'm being serious here." Max stated seriously.
"I know... Its just, your inability to formally apologize is kind of amusing." she returned as they continued their way to the stalls.
"That's where you come in. You're there to right my flaws, like you said, we kind of..." he drawled not finishing his sentence.
All smiles Phoebe looped an arm around his. "Come on, we kind of what?"
".. Complete one another alright! There I said it."
"Aw, you actually do care about me." she cooed clutching his arm tighter.
Max just grumbled.
"So, you never did tell me why you're in such a good mood."
"Let's just say I've been slacking off on girls lately, and Oyster might have caught the windbreaker for me."
"Who is she?" Phoebe asked - masking the immediate jealousy.
"No idea. Though I will tomorrow at school. Oyster described her vaguely. He didn't even tell me the colour of her hair. I just hope she's blonde." he said frowning a bit.
Phoebe nodded.

They were sitting on one of the benches. Max licking his vanilla flavoured ice cream. While Phoebe's tongue worked on her chocolate flavoured one.
"I've been curious.." Phoebe suddenly said.
Max looked her way. "About what?"
"Ever since we grew up, you've always favoured vanilla over the rest, why?"
"I don't know, maybe its a way of disciplining myself to only infatuate with blondes over brunettes." he said smirking.
"Yeah, real mature Max." she said glancing the other way - to hide the disappointed look that marred her face.
- Line Break -
"Thank you." Yet with such civil words Phoebe actually glared at the older blonde girl shamelessly oogling her brother.
Oblivious Max, was busy drooling over the small box containing his EarBlasters.
She sent the cashier a last scathing look before facing Max and offered him the medium sized cuboid carton containing his headphones.
His eyes fell south to the box - before meeting her eyes and pulled her into a hug.
Phoebe who found no qualms in his actions enthusiastically wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Thanks Pheebs, I owe you one."
"I'm surely going to keep that in mind." she said enjoying the warmth of his body - his scent. Having his body pressed against her was already a safe haven she encompassed in bliss.
She sighed wistfully. Wishing they weren't siblings at that particular moment.
But all good things have an enivatible ending.
Disappointed. Yes. As he released her and took the small box from her possession.
"Man, Oyster is so going to suck face for this." he said unable to keep his hands of the small parcel.
Phoebe just looked on with a smile, that was before she heard a throat being cleared at the counter.
"Excuse me." The Thunderman duo turned to the cashier. "I couldn't help but notice. But you two make such a cute couple." she concluded sending them a smile she probably considered the sweetest in her arsenal.
Phoebe frowned. The glum looking cashier [In her opinion] was inadvertently asking if Max was single. That was it. And she was certain of it.
"No. You got all wrong. We're actually twins." Max said hastily - immediately fending off the thoughts conveying him and Phoebe, that way.
Phoebe's heart fluttered out of hurt at his immediate affront.
"Oh, sorry my bad." she said faking a laugh. "Then in that case.." The blonde cashier scrambled on a piece of paper, and handed it to Max. "Don't hesitate to reach me pretty face." she said batting her eyes.
Max clutched the little paper in his hands before sliding it into one of Phoebe's bags.
"Certainly." he returned with a well aimed smirk.
A wink from the blonde cashier sent Max and Phoebe on their way home.

"This, is the first I actually appreciate being dragged to shopping without regrets." Max exclaimed dropping Phoebe's shopping bags on the couch.
"You sure?" she questioned smiling skeptically.
"Of course. And again. Thank you." he said and tried to pull off a smile - keyword being 'tried'.
"No, don't."
"What?" he asked with risen eyebrows.
"Don't smile. It doesn't suit you. I prefer the smirk." she said shaking her head encouragingly.
"Anything for my Super sis." He smirked before moving for his lair.
"And Max?"
He turned.
"Thanks for dealing with me today."
In a burst of emotion she kissed him on the cheek. Lips lingering far longer than needed to.
"Well, something good did come out of it, so yeah." he dismissed with a smirk before his legs carried him off to his lair.
Complacency rolling off of her due to the fact he didn't wipe her kiss away or call her on it.
- Line Break -
Pouring the content inside the shopping bags on her bed she noticed a small piece of paper.
Holding it between her fingers she scanned what was written on it.
"Phoebe! Dinner's ready!" she heard her mother yell from downstairs.
"Coming mom!" she returned.
Levitating the piece of paper a few centimeters from her face she inhaled and breathed fire, turning the piece of paper into nothing.
Satisfied with her work, she trotted downstairs with an extra pep in her step.
