Almost...ready, Blair thought to herself. She sat atop a pumpkin, and glided silently through the woods. Sid walked below her, and Blair took a breath, ready to aim. Maka had told her that she had no talent. I'll show you talent, Blair silently vowed. When I beat Sid in a fight, you'll know just how strong I—
Her thoughts were interrupted by Sid speaking from below. "I can hear you, you know," he lisped. "Just because you're not touching the ground doesn't mean that you're not making any noise."
Crap! What do I do? Blair started to panic. "Pumpkin Pumpkin Halloween Cannon!" she shouted, and aimed her magic towards Sid. "I'm undead, you know," Sid said as he dropped underground. The blast hit the ground, and Sid surfaced again, unharmed. "In life, I was afraid of death," he said as he stepped onto solid ground. "But now, I'm not afraid of anything." Sid hoisted his gravestone over his shoulder and locked eyes with Blair.
What is...this feeling? Blair wondered. Her stomach felt like it was being wrung out like a dishcloth. But those small, gray eyes made her melt like butter in a pan. His cute red nose made her heart beat. His soft, tan fur made her swoon. He would be anyone's dream sloth.
"What's the matter, Blair?" Sid asked. "Cat got your tongue?" He laughed, and Blair's heart skipped. "Sid, I'm —"
"Uh-uh. Address my by my full name when you speak to me."
"Oh, um, Sid the Sloth-sensei, I'm sorry. I was trying to prove to Maka that I am as strong as she is."
Sid smiled, and all four of his teeth showed. "Blair, you don't need to prove yourself to anyone," he told her. "You're strong, and only a fool wouldn't realize that. You're beautiful as well, even more beautiful than Maka. But don't tell her I said that." He grinned.
Blair averted her eyes. "Thank you, Sid the Sloth-sensei," she said. She slowly descended to the forest floor. "You...are beautiful too," she admitted. Sid the Sloth approached her, and put a three-fingered hand on her waist. "What...what are you doing?" Blair asked.
"In life, I was afraid of love. But now, I am not afraid of anything," he said.
"S-Sid the Sloth-sensei—"
"Please. Call me—" Sid paused to look into the distance, and he raised one hand. "Sid." He turned back to Blair, and he kissed her. And Blair was the happiest cat in the world.
