"It's almost summer. Just a couple more days." Nova gnawed on the end of her pencil staring at her completely untouched math assignment. She groaned and dropped her head on the tabled. She quickly regretted the dramatic gesture and rubbed the small bump forming on her forehead. Fry peeked his head into the conference room where she was working.
"You alright?" He half chuckled.
"Not really. Why are there even letters in here. Letters belong in English. Numbers belong in math. Actually numbers don't belong anywhere because they're useless and math is useless and I don't understand why we even have to learn it."
Her dad pulled out the chair next to her. "They're probably just preparing you for taxes."
"I guess. But are there letters in taxes."
"Late fee letters."
"That's not-. I'm gonna shred it. I'll just get arrested for tax evasion." She sat up to jump out of the chair but Fry grabbed her arm.
"Tell you what, we've got a delivery to Luna Park in an hour."
"Wait, like the theme park?"
"Uh huh, how about you take a break from this and come with us. Ride some rides. Eat some junk food. And when we get back, I promise I'll annoy Hermes into helping you with your homework." Nova giggled. "What'dya say?"
