"Funny, I've never taken you for a martini-drinking girl." A chair was scraped along the tiles next to her.
"Richard."
"Rachel."
"What are you doing here? San Francisco is a long-ways away from Jump City."
"I just wanted to get a drink I couldn't get anywhere else." Robin put twenty bucks on the table. "Beer, for me please."
"San Francisco? For just a beer?"
Robin shrugged. "I like the beer here."
"Your marriage is coming up soon."
The bartender put a chilled beer in front of him. "Ah, yea."
"How's it going?"
"Oh you know." Robin scratched the back of his head. "Regular marriage stuff."
"Hnn."
"I've been thinking, Rae." Robin turned to face her.
"Stop. I already know what you're going to say. I'm sorry for what I did, I shouldn't have done it and I hope all can be forgiven."
"All is forgiven Rae, but I can't help but this about it, you know, the ithing/i we had."
"It wasn't real, Richard. It was never real."
"But I could have sworn-"
"Just one swig of your beer and you're all already drunk? Really, you do not hold liquor that well."
"Rav- Rachel, just listen."
"I am, carry on."
"I-I think if we could have worked something out, we could have been-"
"Key words: could have been." Raven finished the martini drink in her hand.
"Another one, Rachel?" The bartender asked her.
"No, thank you Burt."
"Rachel, you say it's fake but in my heart..." Robin sighed. "I...don't know. You've always been complicated. I just wish-" he stared into her eyes. "I just wish it was back when we were-"
"Richard, we never were. Why you continue to believe that perplexes me. Sta-Kori is your one true love and your soon-to-be wife. I don't think talking to me about the past is going to help your future."
Robin glared at her. "Right, be that way. You can't keep pushing people away Rachel. You can't deny what you feel."
Raven traced the top of the martini glass with her finger. "I've never denied how I felt."
"Then why are you denying this?"
"Because there is nothing to deny." Raven looked at Robin with all seriousness written on her face.
"I-Is that it, huh?" Robin got up from his chair. "Well, it was nice seeing you today Raven. I, uh, hope to see you at the wedding." And he walked out of the bar without looking back.
Raven's eyes followed Robin's silhouette until he disappeared from her sight. She slapped down twenty bucks on the table.
"Actually, Burt, I would like another martini."
Burt nodded, almost knowingly, and turned around to make her drink.
Raven laid her head on the table and waited for her drink.
