Disclaimer: I don't own VM. We know this. Lets move on.
Summary: Most people don't know Mac...
Notes: So, I love Mac. Who doesn't, really? This is my first posted VM fan fic, so feedback would be excellent.
Most people don't know Mac. Most people don't see Mac. For instance, she's gone to school with the same group of people since kindergarten. Most of them don't even know her first name is really Cindy. But when you think about it, what kind of parents would name their daughter Mac Mackenzie? That's just cruel.
Mac takes the bus. Not usually, but her car is in the shop. Well, her car is at Weevil's place. Apparently he owed Veronica a favor. Mac doubts that it's anywhere near legal, but she gets her car fixed for half the price and asks no questions..
Mac also bowls. At Neptune high there are three ways to get out of gym. Join a sports team, join pep squad or have some medical reason. She isn't coordinated, this she knows, and she has no pep. But thanks to a rally a few years ago, bowling officially became an intramural sport at Neptune. You couldn't get pirate points for it, but you did get to go off campus for gym hour and roll a colorful ball down an oily lane and knock over a bunch of pins. She's gotten quite good at it, actually.
Mac also doesn't eat lunch. She's a vegan, and while the school supplies vegetarian meals they are far from edible and usually involve some form of cheese smothering the salad. So she spends her lunch period in the computer lab. She's adapted to not eating the meal one hundred and eighty days of the year, so she's just given it up all together.
Mac stays after school every third Wednesday. She's not a part of any club at school, so she walks the halls on the second floor aimlessly for an hour waiting for Veronica to get out of her FBLA meeting. Sure, FBLA meets every Wednesday, but the two girls have formed a carefully crafted routine. They go out for an early dinner after Veronica gets out. Sometimes they rent movies. Mac learns some interesting things wandering those halls. Other students who stay late stand in the halls and talk with their friends about whatever drama is plaguing their lives. Mac is caught up on everything going on inside the school because of it.
Mac likes guys. Well.. Guy. But it's never going to happen, so she's going to work on accepting that. He's a nice enough guy, which would be why she likes him, and they have fun together. And they had been spending more time together. But he was an 09er and she really was not. Had she not been switched at birth with Madison Sinclare, then they could talk. But had she not been then the chances that she'd be a complete bimbo and wouldn't know the difference between HTML and CSS. And that's just simple. But she said it to Veronica once, the only way she would ask someone out was if she was planning the Apocalypse for the day before. Which she isn't. So if all Cassidy ever was to her was a good friend, she supposes she could be cool with that.
So maybe no one really knows who Cindy Mackenzie is, but at least she knows who she is. That's something, right?
