Of drunk teens and green eyes
Annabeth looked at the dancing, drunk teens surrounding her and wondered what on earth she was doing here.
Letting Rachel, Thalia and Piper drag her here was definitely one of the worst mistakes of her life. She, Annabeth "smart girl" "hard-worker" Chase did not belong at an out of control teenage party where she was one of possibly six (at the very most) sober people. Her stupid decision had been driven by Thalia's comment that she was "absolutely no fun to hang out with". So, to prove her point she had let Piper do her makeup, and even worn high heels, because Annabeth had far to much pride to let Thalia get away with a comment like that.
It was so not worth it.
"Hey, do you know where the non-spiked punch is?"
She was startled out of her thoughts by a boy's voice, and she looked up to see a boy with black hair and green eyes looking down at her, where she sat on the couch.
"Why?"
"Because, to be honest, I've had enough to drink if I'm trying to avoid a hangover tomorrow."
Annabeth was slightly surprised by his logic. She had been expecting him to have only come over because he had thought she was hot, or something.
"Why ask me?"
She was sure he was being at least a little cheeky when he replied,
"Well you look like the sort of person who might know where it is."
"And why is that? Because I'm not completely drunk?"
"Yes. Also, I've seen you around school and I know you're smart."
It took Annabeth a moment to process this. So he went to her school? She had thought majority of
the people at the party were from Rachel's school. Now that she thought about it he did look kind
of familiar. She thought he might be on the swim team or something. His name was… Peter?
"I'm Percy," he said extending a hand. "And you are?"
"Annabeth. Now come on, I'll show you where that punch is."
In retrospect, perhaps it had been one of the best mistakes of her life.
