Birds of a Feather
A/N: This is my first ever Teen Titans story. The story is going to have lots of mystery and surprises, but I'll be leaving tons of clues for you to pick up on. The title itself is a clue to the main plot of the story. It can refer to many things that'll happen later. Well, happy reading!

Chapter 1: Sanctuary
On a small island off the coast of Jump City stood a skyscraper in the peculiar shape of a 'T'. For the inhabitants of the strange tower, it had been an oddly peaceful evening, not a single alarm to encroach upon the tranquility of the night. Even the empath was unaware of the impending mayhem.
Just a little ways in off the coast of the city, a cloaked figure was slowly making his way towards the brightly lit tower. The figure looked around furtively before he darted out of the shadows and silently hurried towards the water's edge.
He paused briefly to gaze at the island stronghold and gather his strength for the last part of his journey. An ocean breeze caught the edge of the figure's cloak and pulled it back away from his body, revealing shredded clothing and a body covered in burns, bite marks-one set positioned at the base of his heel, causing him to limp-and a long gash that spanned his chest from shoulder to hip. The man-if he could truly be called such-pulled his cloak tighter around himself and lifted into the air.
The man was nearly to the tower before exhaustion forced him into a steep descent, leaving him with no choice but to phase directly into the main room of the tower. He finally collapsed at the feet of a girl with pale grey skin and shocking violet eyes.
Raven gasped and knelt down beside the man in worry, whipping her own cloak off and placing it over him when he shivered. The other titans watched in concern as Raven prepared their intruder for a relocation to the med bay. The empath was about to rise and transport Cyborg, the patient, and herself to the med bay when the man awoke. A single word escaped the man's lips in a harsh whisper, while Raven's eyes widened in surprise as the sound reverberated against the high ceiling.
"Sanctuary."
