Synopsis: The incredible wedding is finished and Jack and Elizabeth are finally! husband and wife. But there's still a wedding night episode.

#####################

"Elizabeth, are you ready?"

"Just a minute Jack!"

"It's getting late."

Elizabeth heard the impatience in her new husband's voice clearly through the doorway.

"Be right there."

Beside her, Abigail gently hung the beautiful wedding gown onto a wooden hanger.

She cut her eyes toward Elizabeth with a sharp, knowing smile and raised eyebrows.

"Sounds like someone is getting rather impatient to spend some time alone with his new wife."

Elizabeth's eyes darted toward the door and then away as she expelled a quick breath and smoothed the skirt down on her more casual attire.

"Do I look alright Abigail?"

Abigail gave her a quick, understanding smile as she turned from hanging the dress. She stood still and looked at her younger friend.

"Elizabeth, you look beautiful!" She could see the color in Elizabeth's cheeks and noted the quickness of her breath and knew exactly the cause of it.

She pulled her hands up to Elizabeth's shoulders, making her stand completely still. Pulling her hands downward, she squeezed her arms until she reached her hands and took them between her own.

"Elizabeth, listen to me." She dropped her voice to almost a whisper and waited on Elizabeth's eyes to meet hers directly.

When Abigail was sure she had her utmost attention, she continued. "Elizabeth, what you're feeling right now…it's completely normal."

Elizabeth gave her the tiniest of nods and let out a breath. "Abigail…it's just that…it's all so…new and I feel…unprepared."

Abigail shared a secret smile with her. "There's not a woman alive that doesn't feel that way on her wedding night."

Elizabeth nodded. "It's just…"

She stopped and Abigail squeezed her hand. "It's just…what?"

She let out a longer breath this time. "It's just that Jack…well…he seems so…so…"

Abigail almost laughed but stifled her mirth. "Eager?"

Elizabeth gave her a furious nod now. "Yes! And to be honest, it's rather…unsettling." She hurried to clarify.

"I mean, he's always been very affectionate…but there's a more marked…aggression to him now."

Abigail moved her arm up to squeeze Elizabeth's arms. "He's just…he's feeling very possessive of you today. He made you his wife and for a man, that's…well, that's a very powerful feeling."

Elizabeth nodded in understanding. "Yes, that makes sense."

Abigail knew she needed to say more but didn't want to scare. She measured her next words carefully.

"Elizabeth…you just need to focus on one thing tonight."

Elizabeth's eyes widened.

Abigail squeezed a little firmer. "Just focus on the love you feel for Jack and remember how much he loves you…adores you…and know that he will never, ever do anything to hurt you."

Elizabeth nodded. "I do trust Jack…completely."

Abigail smiled as she felt her own love for this young woman well up inside her once more.

"Do you trust me?"

Elizabeth immediately let her mouth drop. "You know I do!"

Abigail took her hands again and squeezed them hard. "Then believe me when I tell you that if you love Jack and you trust him that everything will be fine. Nothing will happen tonight between the two of you that you need to fear."

"As a matter of fact, you may very well find soon that you enjoy being Mrs. Thornton in more ways than one." She gave her a playful wink and secret smile as she leaned in toward her.

Elizabeth gave a nervous chuckle and pulled her even closer for a hug.

"Abigail, what would I do without you?"

Abigail pulled back and wiped her eyes. "Well, I just don't know the answer to that!"

They both chuckled and arm in arm; they headed toward the door.

##########################################

Those eyes.

Elizabeth watched him watching her as he eased her down from his arms and placed her on her feet and could see the emotion brewing in them. Just like earlier, the intensity in his gaze was overwhelming to her every sense.

"Um, Jack, you can just place our bags there by the sofa and I'll get everything organized in the morning." The slight wobble in her voice betrayed her own nervousness.

He had insisted on carrying her across the threshold of the house.

Regardless, of Abigail's reassurance, the nervousness had crept back after their friends had given final well wishes and good-byes and she and Jack had started for home-for the first time-together. She almost wished now that instead of taking the borrowed buggy, they'd just walked. Some normal conversation between them would be welcomed.

But it wasn't a wish for conversation she could see simmering in her new husband's eyes. It was something else altogether.

It was that deep feeling that she'd pulled back from many times while they were courting, the same intense feeling she'd seen him suppress in himself whenever she had. Jack had always respected that unspoken boundary between them and had never crossed it. He'd always let her stop the kisses; control the touches.

But the man who kept looking at her tonight didn't seem like the same man who had held himself in such tight control. And he wasn't. They weren't courting. He wasn't her intended any longer; he was now her husband.

She expelled a deep breath. And turned toward him with a smile on her lips. In one stride, he pulled her to him. One large arm encircled her waist while the other wrapped around her back and pulled her tighter against his chest than he'd ever held her. He bent his head and captured her lips in a kiss reminiscent of their wedding kiss- bold and possessive. Her breath left her lungs as he took it into his own.

After long moments, he pulled slightly back, breathing hard and leaned to rest his forehead against hers, their noses and lips still lightly touching. "I've been wanting to do that again since the ceremony."

She pressed her own forehead against him, the emotion of the day washing over her. When he made no further movements, she let herself relax a bit and enjoy the feel of his body, his warmth, so snug now against her own.

It was then that she felt the contrasts, really noted them for the first time. She felt the strength in his hands still now against the center of her back. She felt the muscles in his chest pressing into the softness of her breasts. The feeling was instantly immense. Through hooded eyes, she peered upward at Jack who had his eyes closed in what seemed to be pleasure.

He sensed her gaze and softly opened his own once more. A small smile tugged his lips upward.

"Have I told you how much I love you Mrs. Thornton?"

His teasing smile as he caressed his nose with hers made her feel somewhat comfortable again.

She gave him a soft kiss on his chin. "You might have mentioned it a time or two today."

He eased back slightly and shook his head at her and made a soft chastising noise. "You know, that just didn't sound quite convincing Mrs. Thornton…I do believe I am going to have to make this one fact crystal clear to you."

His smile became rather wolf-like and his eyes took on that predatory gleam again. Elizabeth felt her heart jump and knew if she didn't slow him down a bit, their marriage bed would be an afterthought. Jack seemed ready to be with her in every way right here in the living room. That was a scandalous thought for certain! Who did such? Especially on a wedding night?

She stepped away and while his hungry gazed followed her, he didn't protest.

Elizabeth turned her attention toward the bags that Jack had placed on the floor. She remembered Abigail saying something about putting some food in for them.

She made her way around him to them and pulled out what appeared to be a paper bag of food folded neatly atop one of the larger bags.

She smiled up at Jack who just watched her, his face unreadable.

"Are you hungry Jack?" She raised the soft cloth that covered the plate. "Looks like Abigail put us in some cheeses and crackers and pastries!"

"Not for food." His voice was husky and deep.

Elizabeth dropped her eyes, ignoring his pointed comment for the moment and quickly made her way toward the kitchen. "I'll just prepare us some coffee to go with these."

She busied herself for a few minutes. Jack made no move to follow or to even sit down. Instead, she noted that he moved around her house as if he'd never seen it before. He stopped to look at mementos and photos.

She finally brought two hot mugs of coffee over and stood beside him. He was staring intently at a photo that had been taken of the two of them just after he'd received his medal of honor.

"Jack?" She handed him the mug, which he took absently.

"Thanks." His eyes stayed on the photo.

"Jack…what's wrong?"

He blinked and turned his attention to her, a ghost of an odd smile playing across his lips.

"Oh…nothing…really…it's just…I cannot believe that I'm actually finally here with you…like this…"

She knitted her brow in confusion.

I don't mean…you know…that we're here…in a place we call home…together."

She took a sip of her coffee and gave him a tiny nod of understanding. The idea still overwhelmed her as well.

He took a long sip of his coffee and then placed it aside on the table before turning back to her. He let his hands caress her upper arms and she almost dropped her own mug. "I just…Sometimes Elizabeth…I marvel that you ever said 'yes' to me."

She gave an unladylike snort and then pulled her right arm free to place her own mug down beside his. Turning back to him with resolve, she placed her hand on his cheek and stared deeply into his eyes.

"The day we met…I thought you were the most handsome man I'd ever laid eyes on."

His face showed surprise. "You've never told me that."

"I've never told you a lot of…my more…personal thoughts Jack…they wouldn't have been…proper to share during a courtship."

She glanced away quickly feeling the heat rise again in her cheeks. Jack seemed to take confidence in her blush and she tried to pull away but he gently held her still.

"I was just going to get you a pastry to go with your coffee."

His face broke into a most irritatingly arrogant smile.

"Most handsome man eh?"

She wished she could take back the comment now.

"Tell me what else you thought of me."

Her mouth formed a small 'O' and she was speechless. She was getting in over her head -fast.

"I hardly think you need to know everything Jack."

He pulled her in against him and leaned in to whisper at her ear. "Maybe I want to know everything."

She stiffened. "Perhaps some thoughts a lady has should be kept private."

His despicable, arrogant smile just increased.

"Oh really now…well, since you shared such a personal thought with me…I really should share one with you."

Elizabeth felt her heart run away.

What was he…?

"Jack…that's not…"

He brought a hand up to her chin and forced her eyes to look at him. He glanced downward ever so briefly.

"I want you to know that every time I see you in one of these beautiful form-fitting dresses that I long to touch you…"

He let his fingers ease down her neck to the soft skin above her breasts, which were now rising and falling rapidly as his fingers grazed across it softly.

"…here…and…"

He let his thumb ease down to where the tops of her breast barely rose above the neckline. He stared downward openly now, admiring what he was doing to her. He finally raised his lips to hers and kissed her softly as he spoke. "Everywhere."

She gave a soft sigh as she melted into his mouth, her own need rising at his beautiful admission.

She felt his tongue tug softly at her bottom lip as he nibbled at it gently with his teeth.

She gasped loudly and he stilled, pulling back slightly. How was in control of himself after that kiss? Her own thoughts and body felt riotous. Slowly. Slowly. Her control was slipping.

She opened her eyes. His eyes, dark and hungry, were staring back at her. There was no smile now, just a level of intensity that she'd never seen there before.

He raised his chin, his voice a deep whisper. "Tell me more of your thoughts Elizabeth."

She struggled to keep up, her emotions askew. "More?"

He nodded. "Yes, what else have you thought about me?"

She bit her bottom lip. Did she dare?

His eyes were pleading with her…daring her…

And she realized that she wanted him to know…that she'd thought of him just as he had her.

"Jack…I…when you were gone…sometimes, when I would lie down at night…I would dream of you…and I could imagine you as my husband even then…and I'd reach for you and…"

She stopped, the words becoming harder to say.

"Go on." His voice was deep and full of emotion.

She expelled a breath, forcing herself to continue…to tell him.

"You would reach for me…and I would unbutton…"

She paused and let her fingers drift to the gold buttons on his uniform jacket.

"I would unbutton these and…" She paused and breathed again, forcing. "I would…I would push the jacket from your shoulders and it would fall away and I would caress my hands across your bare shoulders and feel your strength beneath them. And…and I would pull you to me and feel…just… you under my hands."

She finished without taking a breath and Jack just stared down at her now, his own breath pushing harshly through his nostrils.

For long moments, he said nothing and Elizabeth knew she'd gone too far! What was she thinking, letting him hear her say all that?

He'd think…

"Jack?" Her voice was a small squeak.

"I have never wanted to love someone…to have someone as my own…body and soul the way I want to love you like I do right now."

He reached down and before she realized what was happening, pulled her up into his arms to carry her.

"Jack! What are you…?" He said nothing but began to walk toward the stairs.

She instantly knew where they were headed but the fear she expected didn't come as strongly as she'd feared. There was something else warring with that fear too…a need within her own body that yearned for him.

She held to him as he effortlessly eased her around the landing at the top of the stairs and into the door of what had been her bedroom just a night ago.

And now, it was…theirs.

He came to stand near the bed and gently, lowered her to her feet.

She held to his shoulders to steady herself.

"I've got you sweetheart."

She felt herself blush again and gave him a little embarrassed smile but thankfully, she realized he couldn't see her in the darkness of the room. "I guess I'm not used to be being carried so much."

He leaned forward and she could see even in the darkness that he smiled back. "You might want to get used to it."

She swallowed at his implication and did her best to squelch the tide of nerves she felt rising inside her.

The small room seemed half the size with him standing before her.

Her eyes darted away from his face. "There are matches on the table for the lantern.

Jack turned toward the table and quickly lit the lamp, bringing the room and her embarrassment to light. He turned back to her but she looked away.

"Hey, Elizabeth…don't."

He brought her eyes back to his with a finger under her chin. "It's just me and you…" He leaned in to rub his warm nose to hers.

"We love each other right?" His smile was uplifting. "There's nothing to worry about…"

He lightly kissed her chin and she gave him a tight nod. "I know that..."

He raised his soft lips to her cheek and then moved them to her eyelids, placing a light kiss on each.

"This…this…feeling we've felt since we met…this fire that's between us…it's always been there Elizabeth."

She nodded, unable to speak her feelings into words as she stared up at him.

He gave her a beautiful smile. "Do you trust me to take care with you?" His words were a whisper in the moonlit room.

"You know I do." And she truly did. She had begun this journey westward accepting the unknown and now, she faced another turn in that journey tonight. But this time, she wasn't alone. She was going to do this with the one person in the world she trusted the most; the one person in the world she loved the most.

He kissed her hair near her ear. "I'm going to love you with everything in me."

His intimate words, spoken with such sincerity made her heart race faster and she tentatively reached up to kiss him.

She let her own lips trail to his jaw and his neck and loved the freedom of how it felt. "I'm going to do the same Jack."

He smiled a secret smile she had come to understand was reserved only for her.

"It's just like a dance...and we dance very well together don't we?"

His hands spanned her tight waist and he began to gently move her, his hands moving slowly on her back as he did so. She held his eyes, concentrated on the dance as she felt his fingers span her back, his fingers playing with the buttons on her dress.

In just a moment, she felt one loosen. She paused, her eyes widened as she looked up at him.

His eyes never left hers as he asked a silent permission. She swayed slightly toward him and she felt another button loosen as his hands worked behind her.

Soon, the entire row was undone and his hands burned into the soft flesh of her upper back as she swayed toward him to keep her blouse from sliding off her back and shoulders. He caught her and leaned into her.

"I thought you wanted to unbutton mine too…" His deep voice held a challenge as he reached up to unbutton the top button at his neck.

She forced her head upward and then focused. She had dreamed of touching him. She raised one hand to the golden button at his chest. Holding his eyes, she slowly brought her other hand up to join and began to work his button undone. It slid open and she almost gasped at the small intimacy.

The sight of her own hands working the buttons on his jacket both thrilled and terrified. Yet, she was determined. Biting her lip in concentration, she continued to undo each button until the jacket fell open.

Beneath, he had on a white undershirt. Her hands immediately fell to the hem and she raised it, mimicking his caress of her bare back, she let her hands ease across the skin there.

Above her, she heard the sharp intake of his breath and understood the effect her touch was having on him.

"Elizabeth…" Her name was spoken in almost a warning but she didn't want to yet stop. The warmth of his skin, the softness over the muscle beneath was intoxicating to her. She let her nails scrape upward as she pushed the undershirt upward. Now, in the low light of the small room, she could see the beautiful skin she had exposed. His chest was muscular and firm. She suddenly wanted to…

Did she dare?

Without over thinking it, she leaned forward, eased her head downward and placed a kiss on the smooth skin of his stomach.

It was as if she'd put his entire body in a fire. His hands immediately pulled at her neck and he growled her name now.

"Elizabeth!...Please sweetheart…"

And then, the softness against her lips, the wondrous softness and muscle; it was taken from her.

He pushed her back toward the bed and she felt a rush of air on her own skin as his hands pulled at the blouse. He tugged it free of her skirt and over her wrists until it fell completely away to the floor.

She heard his intake of breath as he stared at what he'd revealed. She stood before him in a lace chemise. It took every ounce of willpower she could muster to remain still and let him look at her; to not try to cover herself.

Her need for modesty warred with her need for him-just him- to finally see all of her.

"Sweetheart, you are absolutely beautiful." She glanced down at herself and could see her own breast heaving as she overflowed the small cups of the chemise. Her corset had never felt so tight as Jack couldn't seem to take his eyes from her.

Slow down. Her mind chanted to her but she didn't seem to know how to control this. He started to bend his head again toward her and she knew if he touched her there, she wouldn't be able to think rationally.

"Jack…um… don't you want me to change? I have a nightgown."

He stepped back and cast her an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry Elizabeth…I didn't think…"

He looked a bit agitated at himself now as he sat on the edge of her bed and made an effort to slow his own breathing down and Elizabeth was stunned by how much she liked seeing him desire her like this. He was hers. Abigail was right. It was a powerful feeling.

She looked down at him and gently put her hand on his bowed head. He raised his head to kiss the inside of her hand and take it then in his own. "You know sweetheart, you just have to say 'no' and I'll stop."

Her heart turned over. How much did she love this man!

"Thank you Jack…but I do…want this with you…I just want to…slow things down a little." She squeezed his hand and then pulled away. "Why don't I step over here and change?" She motioned to her small dressing screen.

He gave her a small smile. "I wasn't sure I could manage that corset yet anyway."

They both laughed easing the tension and then Elizabeth slipped behind the screen.

She sat down on the small dressing stool and let out a big silent breath. Wow. The intensity of this…

It was so much more than she'd ever imagined. Already. And he'd barely touched her. She didn't know if she would survive it when he did.

She stood and began to undress, the beautiful bead and lace gown hanging on the screen in front of her. Would he like it? Her sister had given it to her as a wedding gift from the finest ladies shop in Hamilton. She remembered her sister's reaction when she'd first tried it on.

'Oh! Elizabeth! It's a dream! Jack will absolutely be over the moon when he sees you in it!'

And she had to admit as she slipped it on now and stared the lovely pink concoction that it had fit her beautifully. Julie had always had wonderful taste in clothing.

But it showed…so much. Her arms were practically bare and the thin material left very little to the imagination. She felt so very…exposed.

Yes, this would take some getting used to.

Reaching back onto another hanger, she slid the matching house robe off and quickly wrapped it around her and tied it.

It was still thin but at least she didn't feel completely naked.

Slowly, she eased out from behind the screen half expecting Jack to be back downstairs, his presence seemingly so out of place in her bedroom. But no, there he stood, his pants loosened and his undershirt completely off.

The sight took her breath. His skin looked smooth and bronze in the low lamplight. He had his back turned to her as he fiddled with the lamplight, setting the wick lower. She quickly turned away, sitting down to look into the small table mirror at her dressing table at the foot of the bed. She focused on loosening her hair from the fancy updo Rosemary had arranged it in earlier. It felt wonderful as it fell across her shoulders.

She was about to pick up her hairbrush when Jack's large hand covered hers. In the mirror, she could see him close at her back.

"Let me." He slowly picked up the brush in one hand and with his other, he raised the hair from her neck. Gently, he began to brush her hair in downward strokes. It felt heavenly.

"When I was a little boy, my mom would ask me occasionally to brush her long hair. I was always amazed at how women's hair could be so long and so beautiful. And yours is…the color of it…is amazing. I can never seem to get it just right when I draw you."

"Do you draw me a lot Jack?" She blurted out the nervous question as quickly as came to her mind.

She watched the small smile form on his face in the mirror. "You've seen my drawings. You know I do."

"Did you draw me…while you were…away?"

He didn't say anything for a long moment but rather seemed just intent on his brushing technique. But then he leaned in toward her earlobe.

"I didn't have my drawing pad Elizabeth. But it doesn't mean I didn't draw you in my mind."

For some reason, his soft admission took her breath.

"What…um…what did you see?"

He gave her a soft smile. "More than I should have."

"Jack!" She turned on the stool and he caught her exclamation in his mouth as he pulled her up toward him. Opening, he devoured her lips and brought his tongue into her mouth for a moment. It was such a bold move and aggressive kiss that she didn't even think to protest.

Finally, he pulled away and stepped back, his eyes lazily perusing her nightgown. "You are more beautiful now than anything I could have imagined."

The brush was now a forgotten instrument; he tugged at the front of her robe sash until it loosened and came undone.

She heard a small sound and realized the whimper came from her. Jack pushed the robe aside and pushed his hands inside, encompassing her waist. "Have I told you what that little sound you make when I kiss you does to me?"

She felt exposed with the robe now open but couldn't have moved. "The sound I make?"

He leaned to kiss her neck, first on one side and then on the other. The feeling was incredible and she had no choice but to respond.

"That sound." He mumbled the words as his mouth continued to kiss her neckline, following the nightgown trim.

"I had no idea that I made a…sound."

Her words came out low, her own voice sounded raspy as he continued to kiss her. She felt his hands push the robe from her shoulders and it fell to the floor. Jack gave a small groan of pleasure and his hands eased their way upward.

And then, he was there and they both stilled.

His hands gently cupped beneath her full breasts through the thin material. He stopped kissing her, his head bowed as he just breathed and stared.

"Elizabeth Thornton, you are the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes on." He repeated the compliment to her that she had shared with him earlier and the sincerity with which he said it squeezed her heart.

Finally, he raised dark eyes to hers. The fire burning in them made her heart leap.

"You will have to tell me if I do anything you don't want sweetheart. Just…tell me…"

She was unable to speak so she just nodded.

His hands slowly began to caress her breasts, his fingers kneading all around the soft flesh. Elizabeth felt as if she might faint into the floor in the moment. Her legs felt completely inadequate to hold her up to the onslaught of feelings.

He reached again to kiss her as his thumbs rubbed just over her nipples. Elizabeth's mouth tore from his as she gasped.

"Oh!"

His mouth was at the corner of hers. "Does that hurt?"

She couldn't speak, didn't dare but instead shook her head.

Through hooded lids, she could see him nod and look downward, the fire growing in his eyes.

"Beautiful…" His voice waivered as he sucked in breaths of his own.

His finger joined his thumb and he lightly squeezed and Elizabeth felt her head fall back to her shoulders, her body not in her control now.

"Jack…"

She rasped his name out as she felt his hot mouth now above her breasts. He held the breast in his hand as his other hand spanned her back, holding her up.

Moving his head further downward, she felt his hair beneath her fingers. She didn't remember raising her arm toward him. Her hand followed his head as he kissed around the breast and nudged the material aside with his mouth.

He slowed for just a moment, looking upward to her as if asking permission. At the moment, she would have granted him anything.

But he had to continue touching her! Had to!

She squeezed her eyes and then nodded. "Yes Jack." She opened her eyes once more to see the relief and then desire flare in his.

His eyes continued to hold hers a long moment and then he dipped his head to her breasts, nudging the material aside with his free hand and put his mouth over the hardened nipple.

"Oh!"

Elizabeth's entire body jerked as he did so. He kissed and tugged, her cries loud in the small room.

He kept kissing her, finally moving to lave his tongue and teeth across her other breast. Both her hands came to his head and she guided rather than pushed him away.

She had no thought to stop him in this.

It was…incredible. Unlike anything they'd ever done and far beyond anything she'd ever felt with him.

She felt him pull at the nightgown and suddenly the rest of it slipped from her shoulders to the wooden floor. She stood before him, bare for the first time.

She thought he stopped breathing in that moment.

"Jack…?"

She moved her hand to cover and he caught it in his own, stilling her movement.

"No…don't…please."

She stood quiet at his fierce request; fighting down sudden embarrassment now that he'd stopped kissing her.

He was her husband. And he wanted to see her.

Leaning in, he lightly placed a gentle kiss at her lips. "I love you."

She smiled albeit embarrassed and unsteady. "I love you too."

He lifted her in his arms then and laid her gently on the bed behind them. Leaning over her, he kissed her again. "So very much."

She nodded as he stood beside the bedside and began to unbutton his uniform pants and lowered them. His undergarments were next and she fought the urge to look away but his dark gaze held hers riveted to what was unfolding before her.

His pushed his fingers inside his undergarments and they fell to join the discarded pants. Now he too was nude and Elizabeth could barely breathe.

He was beautiful. Made perfectly. She let her eyes slide downward until…she was…there.

"Oh." She tore her gaze away quickly and back up to his face.

He gave her that small cocky smile she both loved and hated as she watched him. But then she realized he too was facing a moment of uncertainty as color rose in his own cheeks.

He stood there for several seconds more before leaning down, his elbows on the soft mattress. "Elizabeth, I meant what I said. I don't want to hurt you. I'm not an expert at this but I know that I want to experience it with you."

She reached a hand out to his rough cheek. "You could never hurt me Jack…I trust you."

And she knew she did.

He took a deep shuddering breath and started to reach to turn the lamp off.

Suddenly, Elizabeth knew she didn't want their first time together to be in the dark. She put out a hand to stop him.

"Leave it on…please."

He gave her a small, pleased smile. "Gladly."

Pulling himself upward, he soon loomed over her, holding himself off of her with just his elbows.

"I'm going to hold you first if that's OK…so we can get used to each other?"

He was asking and Elizabeth loved him even more for it.

She nodded and he eased down behind her, the feel of his warm, large body shocking against her smaller one.

Skin touching skin. Male hardness against female softness. Elizabeth didn't think there could be a more incredible feeling. She closed her eyes to let the sensations wash over her.

She could have stayed that way forever.

But then, he began to kiss her yet again. First, her bare shoulder and then, her bare back and the sensation was even stronger. She moved because she had to. Her legs shifted against each other and he slowly turned her and their chests touched for the first time and the feeling was…

Incredible.

Stronger than anything she could even imagine.

His muscle lightly caressed her breasts as his mouth took hers in a deep kiss. She turned in his arms until she found herself completely engulfed underneath his large body.

He put his face at her neck beneath her chin and caressed her. "You smell so good."

His teeth grazed beneath her chin and she felt tingles run through her. Reaching up , she rubbed her hands across his back as low as she dared. She loved the feel f his muscled back, and while the idea of what was about to happen made her nervous, she also felt excited.

"I love you touching me." Jack's husky voice was near a groan as she pulled her hands up his back.

"You…you feel…nice." She replied, unable to describe it all.

He smiled and dipped to kiss her neck and rose to see her breasts. He lowered his head and began to kiss around her breasts again and she tightened in preparation for the onslaught she now knew was coming once more.

As his head descended, she dug her heels into the soft mattress and her head back into her pillow.

"OH! Jack! I…can't…"

But he gave no mercy this time. He suckled and pulled until she was pulling up from the bed with her hips to meet his mouth.

Finally, he stopped and eased his lower body downward, flush against hers. She felt all of him and her body seemed to know what to do and her legs fell apart for him.

He groaned loudly as he rubbed himself against her…

There.

He was so…

Large.

The thought wouldn't leave her. He felt so soft and yet hard at the same time and her senses were so askew she couldn't form coherent thought.

"Jack…it's so…"

"Incredible."

She nodded. "Yes."

And then he pushed downward as if his body were directing them both and she sensation was so overwhelming they both gasped aloud.

He whispered her name.

She whispered his.

He began to push his powerful hips again, near her opening now and Elizabeth knew it was close.

She felt his arms, his body, trembling and knew that holding back was taking everything in him.

"Yes Jack…"

He reached between them to position himself and pushed just the tip of himself inside her.

"Oh!" She gasped at the intense feeling and he stopped.

His brow furrowed in agony and pleasure, he looked down at her. "You need me to stop?"

She furiously shook her head. "No!"

She needed to feel it-regardless of what it cost her- she had to know it with him.

And then, she opened wider to him and he plunged inside her fully.

For the first time.

For forever.

She cried out as she felt her body give to let him inside. It had hurt briefly, sharply but as he stilled, she began to just feel…so very…full.

They both stayed that way for long moments.

She watched him as he bit his lip to stay still and she loved him so very much for it.

She took a breath and gave the slightest push upward.

It was enough.

He slowly began to move his body; to push deeper inside her and the intensity of it was astounding.

Moving faster, his breath began coming in short bursts; he leaned to her ear. "I can't hold back any longer Elizabeth…I'm…sorry."

She scraped at his back with her nails and caught his mouth with her own. "No…Jack…"

She wasn't ready…it was just beginning to feel so…like….something incredible was happening within.

He pushed again and now she felt her body react and squeeze him.

He moaned desperately.

And then, he filled her, calling her name.

She felt Jack empty himself inside her and as he stilled, she knew this was only the beginning.

For long moments, he stayed within her; neither of them wanting to move.

Finally, she became a bit uncomfortable.

"Jack…"

He pulled away and eased to the pillow beside hers, his breathing labored and heavy, his eyes closed.

She closed her own again and let herself drift for a few moments between reality and the surreal of what they'd just experienced together.

After long moments, he turned his head toward her and brought up a hand to caress her cheek.

"Have I told you how much I love you today Mrs. Thornton?"

He kissed her shoulder lightly as he said it and turned to cradle her in his arms.

She smiled at him over her shoulder. "You might have mentioned it a time or two."

He gave her another light kiss. "Well, I do. More than you can imagine."

"I love you too Jack…" She smiled a tiny smile. "…from chalk dust to eternity." She finished on a happy whisper.

He chuckled and put his face into her neck and his breathing began to slow to what she assumed was sleep.

She knew…somehow…perhaps it was just her feminine instincts coming to life. But she knew.

There was more…so much more…and she was going to enjoy discovering it all with her husband.

Their wedding night was just the beginning.
