A/N: WARNING! This is my first DMC fanfiction. This story is also available on Wattpad under the same name. Enjoy!
They found him.
He didn't know how but they did. Demetrius has become well accustomed to being chased by the strange demonic entities of the Underworld, but them showing up doesn't make it any less dangerous. It started with him getting off the bus that had taken him into the city so he could go to a nice restaurant and eat.
The restaurant was bustling with business as it was always busy this time of day, but he had been desperate to try one of the restaurants famed burgers so he decided to give it a try. After ordering his food from a rather cute girl with an hourglass figure he quickly devoured his food and was about to order another burger to go when they stepped in.
The other people in the restaurant, the humans had no idea. To them it just look like three outrageously hot looking girls walked in. But Demetrius knew the truth. Thanks to one of his many strange abilities he could tell that their scent was off. Unlike everyone else with their rich perfume or other mundane smells they smelled of something darker, more sour mixed with brimstone and something that could only be described as pure hate and maybe even bloodlust.
Maybe I can get out of this without a fight, Demetrius hoped as he slowly reached for his book bag sitting with him in his booth ready to take off out the back way. Immediately as he moved towards the outer edge of the seat all their of their eyes turned to meet his, and for a brief second he noticed the burning red crimson eyes of a demon before they returned to their natural human color's of hazel, blue, and green.
Definitely demon. He deduced as he quickly decided to risk it and walk out of the back door without being too suspicious. But just as Demetrius walked towards the back exit and turned one more time to look at the three demons he found all three of them were smiling gleefully at him and flashes their smiles. He was screwed.
Immediately after his face was hit with the cool breeze of outside in the summer heat he took off down the street, hoping to put some distance between him, the demons, and innocent civilians. His lungs burned as his legs carried him with equal speed and grace. This was the fifth time in one month that the demons had found him. How did they find him so quickly? He was unsure as he always made sure to cover his tracks.
But it seems they found him anyway, and from that wicked gleam in their eyes they were looking for a fight. And he would gladly give them one, just not were a multitude of things could go wrong and so many innocents could get hurt.
After running for what seemed like twenty minutes Demetrius found himself in one of the city's wide open field parks, and much to both his dismay and relief it seemed as if not a single soul was in sight. But he had to admit the view of the ocean was actually rather nice and would have been pleasing had it not been for the beings hellbent on tearing him limb from limb chasing him.
Taking this time to catch his breath he breathed in heavily as he tried to slow down is erratically beating pulse. Come on Demetrius, pull yourself together. As if you can die in a place like this.
"Why'd you run from us little bird?" A chilling bittersweet voice called out to him. Demetrius whipped his head around to see the forms of those three girls-no demons slowly slinking towards him with those same cocky grins on their face, all of their pearly white fangs on clear display.
"Well forgive my rudeness but you girls aren't exactly the kind of crowd I'd care to hang out with" Demetrius replied.
The leader of the group gave a fake pout. A term of mocking. "Now didn't your father teach you any manners, but then again it is most fortuitous for us that your here all alone."
And that's when the girls did the most horrific thing they could do.
They shifted.
All three of them gave out hideous shrieks as they began to morph. Their eyes turned to ones of blood red, their skin a pale sickly grey. Their nails grew to look like spindly sharp needles. Black tribal tattoos decorated their skin, and then there was the large black membranous wings jutting out of their backs.
Great, Demetrius lamented. Furies.
The three sisters of Hell grinned as they summoned to their hands flaming whips, the flames white hot and ready to punish the wicked. Demetrius knew his demonology well. The Furies are the three demonesses that reside in Hades that punish the wicked and drag their soul to Hell. And of course as their weapon of choice were their whips, doused in flaming hellfire from the River Styx.
This is gonna be a tough one.
The Furies cracked their whips gleefully as they prepared for battle. Demetrius in turn looked at all possible exit points and the chances of him escaping. All of them are zero to none.
"Are you going with us peacefully little boy or will we have to drag your ass with us to Hell!?"
Demetrius just cracked a grin as he reached into his book bag and pulled out a hand gun. It may not be much but it was better than walking around with no weapon of defense, and besides he could always use his powers if it comes down to it although he prefers not to as he doesn't have full control of his powers yet.
Demetrius checked and found that his magazine was full of bullets. He looked at the Furies through his snowy white hair before aiming the gun at the supernatural demonesses. "If you want it, come take it!"
The Furies hissed in anger as the first Sister unfurled her whip and lashed out at Demetrius. The young white haired lad dove out of the way before firing several bullets at the Sisters causing them to take to the skies on their large bat like wings.
"Damn!" He growled under his breath. This just got even harder.
The young boy was ready to take up arms when the sound of a cracking whip and searing white hot pain lanced through his back as he fell to his knees. Hellfire will do that, even after the feeling of the whip the fire stills burns.
The Furies floated overhead, their chorus of joyous laughter sounded to Demetrius more like shrill shrieks of banshees. "My my", one began to say.
"Is that truly the full extent of the power belonging to a son of Sparda!?"
"If that's the case dear Sisters then this will be much easier than I thought."
Demetrius looked up just in time to narrowly dodge another whip attack, the hellfire from the whip scorching a large black patch of grass. That wasn't regrowing anytime soon.
Everything around Demetrius slowed down from the massive influx of adrenaline, with gun in hand he aimed at one of the nearest of the Fury Sister's and fired his gun.
First two bullets. Then five. Then three more for good measure.
Once the adrenaline wore off everything kicked back into full action, and Demetrius couldn't help but smile as he heard the screams of anguish from one of the Sisters as she slowly disintegrated into demonic ash.
The Furies screamed in horror and hatred.
"You foolish, ungrateful!" The Sister said nothing more as she dove towards Demetrius, deflecting the bullets with well placed strikes, her nails like steel cutting clean through the bullets before her hands wrapped themselves tightly around Demetrius's neck before lifting him off the ground.
The young boy struggled as he began to kick and flail, oxygen slowly leaving his body and his vision starting to go hazy. Frantically his hands began to roam around his body frivolously searching for something, the gun long since fell to the floor.
Reaching for his leg he would've let out a sigh of relief if he could as he pulled out a large hunting dagger and immediately jabbed the blade into the Fury's neck. The demoness screamed in pain as she let go of Demetrius before bursting into flames.
Falling to the floor Demetrius wished for this to be over. Running and fighting monsters like this was not fun whatsoever. It was complete and utter torture.
But wasn't there a third-
"How do you, you filthy half-breed! Such arrogance!" She cried out. "I shall avenge my fallen sisters, and they will feast on your flesh and blood as we sing to the sounds of your anguish!"
Wow, metal much! He joked internally as he felt the burning sensation of hellfire wrap around his leg before his is hoisted in the air by the commander Fury's whip before being slammed headfirst into the ground.
A loud crack reverberated through his body before Demetrius was once again hoisted in the air and fell straight hard on his back, followed by the sound of more cracking.
At this point everything in his body felt almost numb. But the Fury was far from done with her own 'justice' as she swung him around once more before launching him into the trunk of a large oak tree, the impact forcing blood to spill forth from his mouth.
Demetrius coughed up even more blood as he propped himself up against the oak tree, his powers of self regeneration slowly healing and mending what was broken or damaged.
Looking at the Fury he could tell she was pissed. If it wasn't from the look of anger and disgust written clearly on her face then perhaps it was the new bright intensity of the hellfire on her whip that gave it away.
"I'm going to make you pay for what you've done you filthy half breed. And I will revel in your screams." And as she lashed out with her whip everything seemed to slow down again.
It seems I have no choice but to use it. Very well then I shall use it...this accursed power.
Demetrius felt the familiar jolt of energy and tingling of his senses as his power built up in his body. As the whip was clear about to slash across his chest a flash of blue pierced the air followed by the sound of a crack, causing the whip to rebound.
"What the hell was that!?" The Fury cried out confused as she looked to Demetrius who was smiling as if he'd won the jackpot.
"You were right about one thing, I am half-demon, which means I have access to some pretty incredible abilities."
Demetrius rose to his feet completely unharmed, at his full height with this strange look in his eyes that caused even the Fury to take a step back.
"And just what sort of powers are they?" She asked half intrigued and half frightened. Demetrius smiled. "Let me show you" he said outstretching his palm and firing a powerful air of blue lightning right to the Fury's chest causing her to be sent flying backwards into a tree, destroying several tree trunks completely.
All while Demetrius walked slowly towards her looking a little tired and exhausted. Which made sense as using to much of his power tends to wear him out a whole lot faster than using his physical strength and agility.
The Fury hissed weakly as she looked up into Demetrius's stone cold eyes.
"Those eyes, such power...it's true then. You really are a son of Sparda."
Demetrius frowned at the name as his eyebrows furrowed in thought. But his baffled expression was soon replaced by a calm and collected disposition.
"Vanish" he muttered.
And the last thing the Fury saw was a bolt of blue lighting flash from the sky before everything went white, and her body decomposed into demonic ash.
Letting out a sigh of relief Demetrius couldn't help but feel proud of himself. He managed to defeat three powerful demonesses known throughout the Demon World for being notoriously powerful, and he beat them all.
I better get out of here, with all the blood, and my scent all over this place more demons will arrive.
And with those final thoughts Demetrius picked up his handgun before running off towards the docks hoping he could get luck and steal a boat that will be able to take him far away. After all...
Running, hiding, and fighting. It's all he's ever known.
But what she said, 'son of Sparda' now that's something new and interesting. Demetrius was sure to look into it when he had the time. Anything that would get him closer to unlocking the mystery of his powers he's all for it. But for now he would run. Like always. But as if he's haunted by a powerful storm that brings destruction and death in it's wake, his power and these demons will always follow him.
It's the curse he must live with.
