This wouldn't be here if I owned Sailor Moon.
CHAPTER 1 - Broken
"Damn... What a mess..." Minako uttered, looking down at the pool of blood she had created on her apartment's carpet. She had just woken up from her short-lived coma caused by her tripping on said floor covering due to severe lack of sleep and cracking her skull open upon impact.
The young actress had always had big dreams. She had always made her dreams happen also. Minako had always been a doer after all. She has only a few years left before Crystal Tokyo, so she can't stop achieving everything she wanted before doomsday.
Filming three movies at the same time wasn't supposed to be a big deal. Except that she had been on several life threatening accidents already. Rumors of her being under the influence of drugs are already circulating online. Luckily, she heals extremely fast, that the tabloids could never pin her as being the one behind the wheel, or the one falling off a flight of stairs, or the star collapsing on set. These, she was thinking while mopping her own blood out of the carpet. It will leave a stain again, she was sure, so she made a mental note to peel it off the next morning. For now, she'd have to doze off; she's pretty sure she'll wake up in the morning anyway; after all, she does wakes up from the dead over and over doesn't she?
Artemis hops inside the window and his eyes fall on his charge. The fearless leader of the senshi is finally getting some much needed snooze time after more than a week of sleeplessness. As far as he could remember, last he saw her shut her eye was on that curb when her car spun out of control and hit a tree.
It was easier back then when he had to worry because she might get hurt from fighting; she didn't disregard her safety back then, just because she'd heal from injuries. He silently leaped beside her on the bed to gaze a while at her peaceful face. He shook his head left and right slowly. What happened to all of you? He asked himself. Jumping off the bed, he let his paws take him deeper into her apartment.
Soon enough, the stench of dried blood reached his nose. Following the scent, it led him to the pile of rags that's soaked with blood. He looked further around the apartment and found where Minako had an accident earlier. He shook his tiny head once more. "Minako..." He uttered in gloom.
Makoto rammed her shoulder against the fire exit door of the burning building amidst the shouts of other onlookers telling her it's impossible to rescue the dog that can be heard barking on one of the top apartments.
She acted like she didn't hear them. Running up the smoke filled stairs feels way more exhilarating and exciting to her anyway, compared to tending flowers every single day. Not that she didn't like her trade; it's just that, she needs to feel more alive. And yes, that broken shoulder that's aching so bad right now and her stinging smoke filled lungs tells her exactly what she needs: she's still alive and able.
She reached the level where the barking is heard the loudest. She tried to open the fire exit door to the level only to pull her hand back rapidly. "Ouch!" She yelped, and then looked down at her burned and blistered hand. "F_ck!" She uttered before kicking the metal door near its lever and effectively broke its locking mechanism. "Ha! Makoto one, door zero!" She said proudly before getting on the smoldering hallway that's filled with heavy fumes from the flames.
There was a weird loud noise while she take steps toward the room number the pet owner told her downstairs. She checked the room numbers one by one, and soon enough, found what she was looking for and scooped the dog up into her arms as soon as she opened the door to get him to safety.
When she got back to the hallway though, an explosion from below caused the floor to cave in. She fell down along with the debris and lost consciousness.
Of her entire two hundred and sixteen hours emergency room duty, with only just a few hours of breaks here and there, Dr. Mizuno had never expected to see a patient she knows personally, wheeled in front of her.
However, instead of worrying for her friend lying there bloody and singed, she almost laughed if not for the nurses surrounding her. Ever since they became Eternal Senshis, their bodies regenerated even way faster than before; (Yes, she tried stabbing herself with a knife to see how fast her abdomen would regrow her innards, but Luna stepped in on her doing the deed and got mad as hell so she didn't try it again, or the opportunity to try hasn't presented itself yet). So she knows that Makoto is just asleep by now. Okay, maybe some of her wounds haven't closed yet, and maybe her lungs are still recuperating, and her skin hasn't turned their normal smooth look yet; but she's certain she'll be fine in an hour or two.
She asked her staff to leave her alone with the patient and they gave her free reign. The surgeon rarely lost patients anyway; that's why she's the one always assigned to the emergency. She tapped her comrade's shoulders to wake her up. Makoto grumbled incoherently before half-opening her eyes. "What?" She asked, sounding annoyed.
"What did you do this time around?" She asked, while browsing the patient file.
The brunette was still groggy from her life and death experience so she was unable to form coherent sentences as answers. "Fire... Dog... Building... Boom..." She mumbled very slowly.
"Boom?" Ami was skeptical but was not able to hold back her laughter anymore. "Luna and Artemis will have a field day when they find out you charged into a burning building because of a puppy!" She followed after she guffawed to her heart's content at the expense of her friend.
"At least... never tried... opening... myself up..." Makoto teased.
"That was research." The doctor answered.
"Whatever" Makoto replied.
"Anyway, I'll instruct the nurses to leave you alone for two hours and then give you a bath. See you tomorrow Mako-chan." Ami Mizuno said, while turning away and writing on the patient file.
"Head trauma on cubicle number two!" Somebody shouted, and that was Ami's cue to leave her friend to heal on her own.
Usagi knocked tentatively against the door of Rei's one bedroom apartment. Ever since her grandfather died, the miko was rarely, if even at all, seen around the old shrine. However, no matter how much Usagi wanted to console her best friend, she herself had to grieve. Like all of the other senshis, she became as orphan as Mamoru and Makoto after Galaxia. Some star seeds cannot be returned, especially if their shines were meant to burn out.
To cut her musings short, it was a guy who was naked from the waist up who opened the door for her. The blonde blinked and stared at the guy she had never met before. "What?" The guy asked.
"Is Rei-chan home?" She asked, after reminding herself that it's rude to stare.
The guy allowed her inside and closed the door behind her. She took a sit on the sofa, not minding the guy who was obviously rummaging under the furniture for his remaining items of clothing. Looking around, Usagi saw a blouse she knew was Rei's, strewn haphazardly on the floor.
"I thought I told you to disappear before daybreak?" Rei appeared from her room, her tone biting and directed at the guy who looked up also with the creak of the door opening.
The guy rolled his eyes, and successfully fishing his pants from under the side table, put them on before going towards the pair of sneakers near the door. "Going now." He called, after putting everything on and then went out.
Rei walked towards the couch where Usagi is and took the seat beside her. "Finally, some peace." She said before leaning against her princess.
"Rei..." Usagi started, in a very soft but reproaching tone.
"Usagi-chan, don't..." The other answered, sitting straighter.
"But..." The blonde tried, but was cut-off.
"Why are you here?" Rei asked in a monotone.
"Honestly? You never asked us that before, whenever we showed up." The moon princess asked back, hurting with the way her best friend was shutting everyone out again.
Rei sighed and leaned against the couch heavily. "We're going to meet tomorrow anyway..."
"This isn't healthy Rei-chan... It'll only damage your moral... You could get sick and..." Usagi tried to reason, but was cut-off once more.
"Oh, but I healed didn't I?" Rei answered, closing her eyes, her tone full of emotions. Why wouldn't Usagi give up? She asked herself mentally. "I healed even from HIV! Ami attested to it."
The blonde looked at her best friend. "We don't heal from everything, obviously." She mumbled, a tear falling for each of her friend that she can't seem to rescue despite taking them out of the cauldron.

Author's Notes: Sorry if I haven't finish yet some of my stories. Yes, this is a new story, and the setting is when they're in their early to mid twenties and Crystal Tokyo is almost upon them but didn't come even after Chibiusa was born. It's a mixed anime-manga canon, but the generals and all characters introduced in the moon verse will be here. Please review as always.
To my DIAPT and STF followers, sorry if you expected my stories there to be updated first; however, Sailor Moon was my first love, so I can't help myself.
