The Tradition

It was fast becoming a tradition among the Gryffindor female students to kiss their long-felt crushes in a public space for the first time.

First, there was Ginny Weasley kissing Harry Potter after the Quidditch Cup final at the end of her 5th year. That was quite a shock to her ex-boyfriend Dean Thomas, who was also at the party when she made that scene.

Harry and Ginny were deliriously happy for the weeks after the kiss happened, kissing each other was a frequent occurrence for the pair, sometimes in public.

That kiss was the start of a long tradition for the boys of that year in Gryffindor.

Next one to do so was Parvati Patil. Sick of Dean Thomas being annoying and moody she rolled her eyes, grabbed his hair and kissed him right after Dumbledore's funeral at Hogwarts, not long after Ginny kissed Harry for the first time.

When the kiss stopped, Dean had this stupid, goofy grin on his face for a very long time. He then decided to kiss her as well and afterwards she had a dreamy expression on her face.

And thus, the tradition continued.

The next one to happen was rather... Unexpected and expected at the same time. In the middle of the final battle in the war that was supposed to end all wizarding war's, Hermione Granger finally had the courage to pull Ron Weasley into a kiss while the battle raged around them.

Whilst everybody was expecting them to eventually get together, nobody thought the timing was the best. Especially their best friend and saviour of the wizarding world, who decided to interrupt them rather ungraciously.

Ron had a similar expression to Dean on his face, but that was quickly removed as the battle continued until a ceasefire was called by Voldemort.

So the tradition continued for the female members of the Gryffindor house.

The last kiss was arguably the most dramatic for everyone involved. Lavender had been attacked by Fenrir Greyback and most thought she was dead after what Greyback did to her. When she awoke a few hours after the battle had finished with Seamus Finnegan at her side, bawling his eyes out she croaked softly, "Seamus, why are you crying?"

Seamus stopped and looked down at the figure and smiled the biggest smile he's ever had, "Lavender, you're alive!"

"Of course I am, Heaven can't have me yet," she croaked again before grabbing the back of the sandy-haired boys head and, much like her best friend had done with Dean, pulled him down to kiss her soundly, "I have some things to do down here before they're allowed to take me."

Seamus was shocked, then had a sly smile on his face. "Oh really? And what would that entail, my dear?"

Lavender had a thoughtful look on her face before putting a similar look on her face, "Some more of this would definitely be part of it," she answered and kissed him again.

And thus, the tradition concluded.

A/N2: So what did you think? The actual story was 500 words on the dot. I wanted to get Neville in there but Hannah was a Hufflepuff so I couldn't. Seamus/Lavender was supposed to be the main focus, and they had nearly 40% of the writing so I think that it's close enough.

I hope you liked it Ash :).
