A wisp of red hair was caught in the pale-yellow light coming from the lamppost attached to the brick wall as she dashed around the corner from his view. Simon yelled after her, yet he did not follow, knowing it was hopeless. She was going to probably run home to Jace and tell him the harsh words he had let slip, he thought. Simon reached up, and brushed his dark hair out of his eyes, adjusting the fine rims of his glasses, a sigh escaping into the cold night air. He always screwed up, whether it was talking to any person or the one girl he loved. Clary. Simon turned away from the alley, shoving his hands into his front jean pockets, and began the long walk home. His thoughts haunted him as he strode. He had admitted his love for her… Her face had held awe in it, and he could see the love there, but then he had gone and ruined it, by saying that Jace was not the man for Clary. That Jace would hurt her. Couldn't protect her. That he should have her…

Her breath came out in foggy clouds, as she shivered while the cold wind bit her skin. She'd been running for a good amount of time, yet she still thought Simon was chasing her. Clary turned around, but didn't see anybody. Not knowing that it had never been Simon chasing her, she yelled out. "Simon! Are you there? Leave me alone!" As she whirled around again, to resume running, a dark figure suddenly was in front of her, a squeak coming from her small body, and she fell on her back stunned. Alec loomed above her. Clary and Alec had never been close, even friends really. Ever. He extended his left hand, grasping hers, then pulled Clary up. "Sorry if I startled you.." His words seemed to be nothing more than a whisper, sending shivers down her spine. "I-It's fine.." She observed him, looking him up and down, wonder in her eyes, wondering why he was here. Least of all, wondering why he was here with her. He looked handsome, astonishingly. His black ShadowHunter gear covered his body, along with the black combat boots. She could see the weapons hidden around his waist, and the black marks on his arms. Why was he out dressed like this? A battle? She wondered. He caught her looking at him, a smirk playing at his lips, but emotions rattled inside him. Alec had realized he had feelings for the girl. He was attracted to Clary, yet he didn't want to tell her. Yet. "What are you out looking for?" Her voice wavered. "You," Came his simple reply. Clary could feel her cheeks burning, the blood flowing to them, making them darken, as Alec smiled watching her. Jace would never forgive him, if he continued on. But he liked—loved—her. Alec continued "Clary… I have to tell you something.." She looked up at his tall figure, into his eyes. "Go ahead," Alec moved forward slowly, his right hand coming to rest on her waist, his left arm wrapping around her, the hand holding the back of her neck, as he whispered. "Better to show you," His lips connected with hers. Clary's eyes widened as she stumbled, but he caught her, and she closed her eyes, falling into the kiss. She kissed back with him. Suddenly he broke away. "I love you… I'm sorry." Alec whisked around, running down the street away from her, disappearing into the darkness. "No!" Clary wanted to stop him, to tell him she loved him, too, but he was gone. Her head leaned down a bit, as her deep red hair covered her eyes. Her cheeks were still red. She couldn't believe he'd said it. He loved her. He loved her. Alec loved her. The thoughts spun around and around her mind, not leaving it. Alec loved her, Clarissa Morgernstern.
