A/N: Guys. This crossover episode. I'm not sure I've ever been more excited about anything in my life. DiNozzo and Deeks. Deeks and DiNozzo. It's going to be AMAZING. I cannot even. Another whole week seems like a long time right now so I thought I'd write a little speculation/hopes and dreams fic to tide me over. Enjoy!
"Fine. I'll do it," Kensi rolled her eyes and slid out of the car, leaning in through the open window. "But you owe me." She leveled her gaze at the man in the backset. "And so do you."
With a swish of dark ponytail and a swing of her hips she sauntered across the street toward their target.
"Wow," Tony said from the back of the car. "She's…"
"Yep," Deeks nodded, his eyes trained on his partner who was running her hand over their target's bicep.
Tony leaned in between the seats. "How long have you two been together?"
"Officially? Since last Christmas."
"Impressive," Tony nodded. "Blatantly breaking Rule 12. That's bold. Very bold Deeks."
"Rule 12?" Deeks asked.
"Never date a co-worker," Tony told him. "It's not Rule 1 but it's close enough."
"Yeah, well," Deeks shot him a grin, "I've never been much of a rule follower." His eyes slid back to his partner. "Besides, she's worth it."
Tony's gaze followed the detective's. Their target was pointing, chatting up a very flirtatious Kensi, who continued to bat her eyelashes and giggle like a schoolgirl.
"She's good," Tony observed.
"The best," Deeks agreed. "She can kick your ass and have you thanking her for it."
"I had a partner like that once. She could kill a man with a shoelace and he would never even feel it."
"Dangerous women," Deeks murmured.
"Yeah, dangerous women," Tony agreed. "Always keeping you on your toes."
"Always," Deeks agreed. "What happened to your partner?"
"Hm?" Tony asked.
"You said you had a partner like Kensi once. What happened to her?"
Tony's eyes became distant. "The thing about dangerous women…sometimes they become so dangerous that they can't find their way back."
Deeks turned around to face him, curiosity in his eyes but Kensi chose that moment to return to the car. "He took the bait," she said. "We're in."
"It was a pleasure working with you Mr. DiNozzo," Hetty said as she shook his hand.
Tony opened his mouth to correct her for the tenth time on the Mister vs. Agent issue but then thought better of it. "The pleasure was all mine Hetty."
"Say hello to Gibbs for me," Callen added.
"And Abby!" Eric piped up.
"Will do," Tony promised.
"Come on, I'll walk you out," Deeks offered.
"And the bromance continues," Sam said with a smirk.
"You're just jealous that I've chosen someone else to have my bromance with," Deeks shot over his shoulder.
They walked down the hall. "All the way to LA and I didn't even get a tan," Tony said ruefully.
"Just gives you a reason to come back," Deeks told him as they reached the door where a car and driver waited for Tony. "Hey man, it was awesome," Deeks shook the senior agent's hand and then moved in for a bro hug.
"Likewise," Tony told him. "If you're ever in D.C. give me a call. I'll give you a tour of the most orange office you'll ever see."
"Sounds like fun."
Tony's eyes turned serious. "Listen, Deeks…I really hope things work out for you and Kensi. She's one of the good ones."
"Thanks," Deeks told him sincerely. "Any advice? Agent to detective?"
Tony gave him a sad smile. "Hold onto her tight and don't let her go. No matter what the rules say."
