Hello, and welcome to my newest fanfic. I'm the author of Maple Story and Down Hill. And thus I bring you Ups and Downs! I suggest you read Maple Story first as it introduces the two main characters of this and explains some stuff…
Anyways I don't own MS or anything.
Akuyoko
A thirteen-year-old boy leaned up against a wall. His white hair spiked up, as it always did. He surveyed the other children in the room with cold eyes. While they played their games Akuyoko played with their confidence. Akuyoko struck fear in most other people. He had gotten to the point where it was amusement for him to scare them out of their wits. Some called Akuyoko a monster because he could do things others couldn't explain. Even he couldn't explain them.
This reputation started the day he arrived at the orphanage as a small toddler. Another child tried to play with the young Akuyoko. But Akuyoko tackled him and started to strangle the boy.
On this particular day someone knocked at the front door of the orphanage. When a woman opened the door a tall man with dark brown hair and sunglasses appeared. She recognized the man and shut the foyer door so they could talk in private. As if it would stop Akuyoko.
He stepped to the door and strained to hear. All that escaped the wall were mumbles. A blue aura appeared around his ear and suddenly he could hear perfectly.
"-ell you the truth we won't miss him." The woman said.
"He should be leaving Maple Island soon enough. I heard about him." The man said.
"Then let's be quick about this"
The man stepped toward the door and grasped the handle. Akuyoko moved away from the door so it could open. The two jumped when they saw Akuyoko in front of the door.
"Akuyoko! Yes well… you heard all that?" The woman said. Akuyoko nodded. "Then just follow this man and do everything he says" Akuyoko raised an eyebrow. "Oh. Then just don't kill him"
"So you're the boy who is going to become a magician?" the man said.
"Looks like it" Akuyoko said. Already he hated this guy.
"Just follow me then." The man said as he stepped out of the building.
Peregrine
I crouched behind a cabinet outside the door. I needed to wait until the people inside left to break in. After what seems like forever the two left the room and departed down the hall. I darted to the door and grasped the handle. I pulled it down, but it made a clicking noise.
I paused. No one came. Cautiously I opened the door. Inside were walls of cabinets. I opened the one closest to the door. Nothing, just information about some warrior-to-be. The next cabinet was empty. The third was about an archer-to-be. The GM archives weren't really a document heaven like I was told. Who honestly cares about a magician that fell of a boat?
Just when I was going to give up I found a drawer that was interesting. Files upon files of job classes that were rejected! I decided to trick the GMs into making one of these an official job. I fingered through the files. Alchemist, technician, the list went on forever! One caught my eye. Thief. Perhaps because it reminded me of me.
The first advancement was rouge. From there you could throw stars of go head to head with a dagger. Bandits/Assassins were second then Chief Bandit/Hermit.
This was the one.
