Author's Note: So, here is a little thing I wrote a while back. Never thought much of it, but let me know what you think, alright?

Disclaimer: Don't own a thing. Well, except this computer. And the table it's on. And the water bottle next to me. But that's it, I swear!

1.

I tell her it's dangerous. She's a civilian, she's untrained, I could get her killed.

"I trust you, Jack."

How have I earned those words?

2.

I tell her I'm leaving again. I can't be here, not now, and I'm so sorry.

"I know, Jack. I'll be here; we'll all be here for you when you get back."

How can she know what I need to hear?

3.

I tell her it's over; it's time to go home. Rest, take the week off.

"You're still here."

As if that was all the reason she needed.

4.

I ask her if everything's alright between her and Morris. I know something's amiss, there have been rumours, and I'm worried about her.

"It's fine, Jack. We're good."

I never knew she could lie to me.

5.

I ask her why she's helping me do this, why she's in all effects betraying her country for me.

"It's the right thing to do."

As if that justified everything.

I tell her about Audrey. She's gone, taken from me, and there's no one I can fight to get her mind back.

"I'm so sorry, Jack. I know how much you love her."

This time, I had something I could say.

"No, Chloe. I love you."

And I kiss her.

As it turns out, she still manage to get the last word.

But when she does, it's not really important anymore.
