Angel's Grasp

AN: This one shot is written from Rex's point of view

I didn't know how I was going to make it through the day. It was the worst day of my life, but as much as I wanted to crawl into a dark hole I needed to be there for Shane and more importantly I had to find a way to say goodbye to Gigi.

I tried to get out of bed, but I couldn't. I couldn't move, I felt paralyzed. I had felt this way once before when I lost Jennifer. If Marcy hadn't have been there to force me out of bed I wouldn't have made it to Jennifer's funeral.

There was a knock on the door, but I didn't want to face anybody. "Go away," I growled.

"I'm not going anywhere Balsom. You're stuck with me," Marcy said as she opened the door with her spare key.

"Marcy, what are you doing here?" I asked as my voice broke.

"Like, I wouldn't be here for you when you say goodbye to Gigi."

"How is it that you always know when I need you?" I asked as I pulled Marci into my arms and allowed myself to cry for the first time since I had lost Gigi.

"I'm your best friend. It's my job to know. Now let's get you ready for the funeral."

"I don't know if I can go, I'm just so tired."

"Of course you can go. You just need a little help getting ready is all," Marci said as she pulled my shirt up over my head.

"Go take a shower, while I get Shane ready."

"Shane's not here. He's at Vicky's."

"Okay, then I can focus all my attention on you, go and shower."

I jumped in the shower and tried to focus my mind on the next step. I washed my hair and stepped out. "

I brushed my teeth and headed back to my room where Marcie had laid my suit out for me. I got dressed. Marcie returned with Shane. "I thought it would be nice if we went to the funeral together," Marcie stated.

Marcie held my hand throughout the ceremony and she didn't let go until long after we had placed Gigi in the ground and I had said my goodbyes.

"How long are you going to be in town for?" I asked when we made it back to my place.

"As long as you need me too?" Marcie stated.

"You're my angel Marcie. I wouldn't have made it through today without you."

"I'll always be here for you whenever you need me to be," Marcie stated as she kissed me on the cheek.

Marcie ended up staying the weekend and then headed back to Seattle. I ended up going with her. Shane and I needed a change and Seattle was the home of my favorite Angel who had gotten a grasp of my heart years ago.
