Note From The Author—So I completely spaced doing this for my favorite holiday ever (Halloween) so I'm doing it for Christmas instead. I'll be writing a short Christmas/Holiday related one-shot for each and every category I usually write in. Should be interesting if nothing else : ) We begin with Tin Man
Disclaimer—I do not own the characters of Tin Man, nor do I own the song from which the title comes
"Cain, seriously, where are we going?"
He huffed exasperatedly as DG asked him for the umpteenth time. "I'll tell you one more time, you'll see in all due time; now come on."
Their hands were clasped together as they hurried through the snowy streets of the city. They were bundled up and on the run from the palace, though for once it hadn't been she who had instigated the process. Cain had pulled her away from Az and Glitch, loaded her down with gloves and scarves and led her out into the city.
DG watched closely as Wyatt checked his watch for what had to be the sixth or seventh time. "Are we late for something?"
Sky blue eyes narrowed, but his smile was soft. "No hints, we're almost there."
"But I want to know now," she whined playfully."
He pulled them to a brief stop, kissing the breath out of her. "Trust me, and trust that it's worth it."
When he did things like that it made her heart stop and rendered her speechless; which was quite the feat really. She didn't even realize they were moving again until a drift of snow plopped onto her shoulder and she had to brush it away. "That was sooooo cheating!"
"Calm down darlin' we're here."
Indeed they had come to a stop and she looked around to see them standing in the courtyard of a very old building with several tall towers. "What are we doing here Wyatt?"
He glanced at his watch again with a smile. "Just wait."
She was ready to comment again, but just as she opened her mouth the most beautiful sound she had ever heard floated down to her. The chorus of bells filled the air, and as they rang the snow all around them sifted to the ground, showering them in sparkling flakes as the bells played a complex carol. Her heart suddenly felt lighter as she spun with a laugh while the song came to its end and the snow settled around them.
DG turned to find Cain leaning against the building, a huge grin on his face. "That was amazing!" she cried. Launching into the air, she barely gave him enough time to react before he caught her in his arms. "Do they always do that?"
"Once a month," he told her with a laugh. "And it's always most beautiful after a snow storm. My buddies and I found it years ago on a trip to the city."
She grinned. "And you brought me here, as special as this is to you."
Wyatt let her slide to the ground and pulled her close against him. "I brought Adora here because I wanted to share everything with her. I brought you here for the same reason," he said quietly
Despite herself she felt tears spring to her eyes as she realized what he was telling her. Knowing that she meant that much to him made her heart fill to bursting. Unable to find any words, she framed his face with her hands and kissed him, pouring all of her emotions into the contact. And when they pulled away she just smiled. Who needed words anyway?
