Brock looked at the clock in his office, "3:30" was showing plainly, as he straightened the collar of his blue work shirt.

He turned to face Barbra Jean, the only other soul in the building, as thunder shook the whole place. She walked toward him with big puppy eyes, "Do you really have to go so soon?" She whimpered.

He grabbed her hands before they could reach his re-combed hair, "BJ, I should have been home 4 hours ago!" He told her sternly.

She looked to the floor in defeat, but soon looked back up holding back tears but smiling, "I'll see you Monday then?" He shook his head in reply. "Promise?"

"Promise" he looked her in the eye reassuringly. She kissed the corner of his mouth and said goodbye.

She grabbed her rain coat and purse as she slipped outside, Brock watched the woman he'd just made love too, run across the wet, black pavement of the parking lot to her car and quickly drive away.

Reminding himself what time it was he quickly got his things together and rushed downstairs. He opened the office building door to a flash of blue lightening and a huge rumble of thunder soon after. He stood in the rain locking the door for what seemed ages and his back was soon soaked with the chilling rain.

As soon as he was in his truck he tried to turn on the radio, but all the stations were out so he was forced to listen to the rain beating down and the thunder booming all around him. He peeled out of the parking lot, knowing he never should have been there tonight.

Across town in a 2 story house, Reba is pacing by their corded phone in the living room, praying it's the weather that's kept him out so late. Her mind buzzes with thoughts of where he's been and where he's at, hopin' she's not right. She runs her pale, freckled hand through her short red hair only to let it fall back to her side, dangling by her faded blue robe.

A concerned Kyra walked slowly downstairs unnoticed, until she cleared her throat and asked, "Mom? Is everything okay?"

Reba startled by her daughters presence quickly turned around and gave her a hug, "Yeah honey everything's fine, go on back to bed" she smiled reassuringly at her child and kissed the top of her red hair.

She looked at her wrist watch once again, after Kyra had made her way back upstairs, it read '3:56'. "Come on Brock!" She said worriedly as she look out the curtain covered widow.

Not long after, he pulls in the drive, she rushes out to hold him thankful he's alright. But as she buries her face in the front of his shirt a strange new perfume blows, she backs away and the lightening flashes in her eyes and he knows that she knows.

Reba stands in total shock as she lets the reality sink in, she clenches her robe in her fists, grits her teeth and let the tears mingle with the rain. The tears are soon replaced with rage as she yells something that is drowned out by the oncoming roll of thunder.

Brock lets the rain pour on him as does Reba's fury, she looks him in the eyes on last time and turns her back to him, not moving. She takes a step but stops at Brock's voice "Reba!" He calls out and reaches for her but she only looks at the ground then runs back to the house and slams the door, locking it behind her.

And The Thunder Rolls

A/N I know Brock had his affair AFTER he moved out, but this is a fanfic note the "fiction" ;)
