No. No.Stop. Please stop. Go away. I can't… I can't deal with this any longer. Please.
"Blaine."
I can't help it, it's not my fault, please. Please stop. Leave him alone. No. Why are you doing this?
"Blaine, sweetie."
What are you doing? They haven't done anything wrong! RUN, BABY, RUN!
"WAKE UP!"
Heart rate absolutely sky-rocketing, Blaine's eyes jolted open, body snapping up before collapsing just as quickly - not back onto the bed, though, but rather into the waiting arms of his boyfriend.
"You were dreaming."
Such simple words. Four syllables. That, and the warmth, such a contrast to the adrenaline flushing through his arteries, is all it took for Blaine's throat to loosen up, breathing to ease slightly. "Nightmare." His voice was hoarse, sleep-ridden, and slightly painful - he must have been screaming.
"Your sister?"
Blaine squeezed his eyes shut again. "Worse." He cleared his throat, trying to force some of that calmness ricocheting off Kurt to his larynx. "Tonight, they were chasing you."
"Baby…"
Silence. They both knew the nightmares have been getting worse recently, sometimes so bad that Blaine refused to fall back to sleep, to return to them.
"There's no one here, baby. Just you and me. Nothing's going to happen." Blaine still had his eyes squeezed shut, refusing to let any tears fall - but Kurt placed a hand under his chin, turning his head. "Baby, look at me." Blaine finally opened his eyes, still black with terror, a small stream trekking down the outline of his nose. "They can't do anything to us. We're stronger than this."
Kurt pressed a small, soft kiss to Blaine's lips, and Blaine reached up, deepening it, trying to increase the contact surface area between them. Each transferred breath seemed to get slower, deeper, more regular - they'd had so much practise now, they knew each other inside and out, and the familiarity of it provided both of them such comfort, such reassurance.
Finally Blaine broke apart, stifling a tiny yawn and burrowing down into Kurt's stomach. Kurt smiled, kissing the top of his hair, pulling the doona tighter over them both before fully encasing the boy in his arms.
"Sing to me?"
"Of course, baby." They both closed their eyes, and Kurt's dulcet tones ebbed over them, lulling them both back to a more peaceful sleep.
Stay a while, little darling.
Stay a while with your light.
Keep me safe in your loving,
Secure with your touch.
Let us just grow together
As lovers must grow,
And we'll bathe together in the afterglow,
And we'll bathe together in the afterglow…
Darlings...
So many stories to continue with... I'll get round to them, once I've finished arranging, but a friend of mine was really sick and just downright miserable, so I wrote this for him, and then decided I may as well publish it for you all to read too. Just in case.
Like it? Hate it? Want me to discover the hard way that Casper is not, in fact, friendly but is rather a vengeful spirit? Please let me know.
Keep smiling! :D
