Kira and Hinamori both find themselves, often, raising an eyebrow at the antics of the final third of their little triangle and the frankly insane Kuchiki girl. Mostly though, they tell themselves that for their own sake it's probably best if they just stay out of it. After all, Rukia is without a doubt a violent little thing and Renji's hardly a pacifist himself. If either Kira or Hinamori get in the middle, they might end up with a stay in the hospital for a bit longer than they'd like.
It's more fun to watch, anyway. In fact, they've got a betting pool set up; currently, they've gotten Gin, Rangiku, Yachiru, Ukitake-taicho and even Byakuya himself involved—no guesses as to what Byakuya's decided to throw his money in the hopes of.
And they've catalogued things too.
The first fight they ever saw Renji and Rukia get into has been dubbed Lover's Spat 001, the second Lover's Spat 002, and so on and so forth. Mind you, they have no intention of ever letting Renji and Rukia know that they've got this system set up; Kira wants to live too badly and Hinamori shudders to think of the ways Rukia could disfigure her face.
They watch from a safe distance (usually the roof of a building) as things go the way they always have.
Rukia: remove shoe, apply to Renji's head. Renji: shout obscenities, apply foot to Rukia's stomach.
"Kuchiki-san is beyond mercurial," Hinamori remarks absently one day, sucking pensively on a bit of watermelon, and Kira can't help but think that "mercurial" describes Rukia perfectly as she fires off a quick-witted taunt and laughs at Renji's reddening face. "And Abarai-kun just keeps walking into it."
"Love is in the air," Kira replies and, uncharacteristically, he grins. Hinamori grins right back.
They're well on their way to becoming considerably richer Shinigami.
