Two Bonds Are Powerful Than One

A/N: Hey everyone! I'm back with a new story! This is my entry for Paradigm of Writing's contest, "Comfort Zones Do Not Exist in Writing". I hope you enjoy!

It was an ordinary day at the Smash Mansion. Lucina had just finished training with Robin and was walking to her room to get some rest. Lucina sighed as she approached the door to her room. But before her hand could touch the knob, she heard sobbing coming from a few rooms away from hers. Lucina didn't want to find out who was sobbing, but her curiosity got the best of her and she walked to where the sobbing was coming from. After walking past a few rooms, she came across an open door. She walked in the room and found Lucas on his bed with his face in a pillow. Lucas sobbed as he buried his face in the pillow.

"Lucas, what's wrong?" Lucina asked.

Lucas lifted his head and looked left to see Lucina standing in front of him.

"Oh, hey Lucina." Lucas said quietly.

Lucina walked up to Lucas and sat on the bed next to him.

"Are you okay?" Lucina asked him.

"Yeah, it's just that… my mother and brother died a while ago. Just thinking about them makes me cry. Face it; I'm a kid with no family!" Lucas explained between sobs.

"Aww, don't say that! You do have a family!" Lucina said.

"I do?" Lucas questioned.

"Yep! Mario, Link, Samus, Kirby, me, and everyone else are your family!" Lucina answered.

Lucas realized this and smiled.

"You're right, Lucina. Thanks for comforting me." Lucas whispered as he hugged Lucina.

"Anytime, Lucas." Lucina assured as she rustled Lucas's hair.

"I have to go get some rest now. See you later, Lucas!" Lucina said as she stood up and left Lucas's room.

She walked to her room and opened the door. As soon as she opened the door, she ran to her bed. After she got comfortable, she fell asleep.

A few hours later, she heard some beeping noises by her door. She walked over to the door and opened it. She saw nothing in front of her. She looked left and found Mr. Game and Watch walking slowly through the hallway.

"Game and Watch!" Lucina called.

Mr. Game and Watch turned around to see Lucina.

"What's the matter?" Lucina asked.

"I'm not a popular character here. I'm just a 2D stick figure. I am not cool enough to be a fighter." Mr. Game and Watch explained sadly.

"You're wrong, Mr. Game and Watch. You are pretty popular. Everyone in this mansion likes to have you around. You like to have fun, you do an excellent job at entertaining us, and you help out in the mansion a lot. You may be flat, but you are pretty cool. " Lucina assured.

Mr. Game and Watch felt happy after he heard what Lucina told him.

"Thanks, Lucina. I needed that." Mr. Game and Watch said.

"You're welcome." Lucina responded.

"Well, see you later!" Mr. Game and Watch shouted as he walked down the stairs.

"Bye, Mr. Game and Watch!" Lucina yelled.

Lucina walked back to her room and crawled into her blankets on her bed. Before she fell asleep, she thought about the strong and friendly bonds she made with Lucas and Mr. Game and Watch. This shows that these kinds of bonds are more powerful than any other bond.
