'Distance, D, is roughly 26 centimeters away. He is approaching, A, at a rate of 780 millimeters per second. But if I calculate the rate at which I move in as well, I'll need to deduct a little under half of A to properly calculate the point of impact. Provided of course I move at a similar rate. Though I moved after him, so I need to account for a delay of— I miscalculated his approach!'
Panicked, Rei jerked forward – this was their first kiss so it needed to be perfect, it needed to be beautiful. To him the perfect kiss was when person a leaned forward and person b met them halfway, both parties accommodating for protrusions such as the nose, or in Rei's case glasses. Nagisa tilted to the right, so he should have gone left but when jerking forward he didn't tilt enough and now suddenly his lips were pressing against Nagisa's nose and his glasses smacking against the blond's forehead.
He stepped back, mortified, eyes wide as Nagisa clutched his forehead and giggled, 'Ah how cute'. Rei flushed – this was embarrassing – it must have looked so comedical. He frantically glanced around the abandoned train station before sighing in relief that no one had seen his blunder.
Nagisa was still laughing, practically doubled over, and Rei pouted.
"This is your fault," was his whispered accusation and Nagisa straightened up, wiping the tears that had formed in the corners of his eyes with his sleeve, "Take respons-"
"Hai hai," Nagisa cut him off, "I'll take responsibility, so don't move."
Rei stood still as Nagisa skipped forward, doing his best to not start running through calculations as Nagisa stepped in front of him. The blond offered him a smile – it actually helped distract Rei a little bit – before the smaller boy was standing on the tips of his toes and grasping the sides of Rei's face with both hands. He titled his face to the side lightly – this time to the left and Rei hoped he had estimated the tilt correctly – as he leaned forward, eyes drifting shut.
The taller boy did his best not to panic – how could Nagisa know how close their lips were if his eyes were closed and what if he miscalculated and approached too quickly and they bumped noses again or worse smashed teeth together?!
"Relax," Nagisa muttered, thumb brushing his cheek lightly in what Rei assumed was supposed to be a comforting gesture – and it really was. And then they were kissing – Nagisa's lips meeting his firmly and confidently with just the right amount of pressure applied. Rei stood still, eyes wide, mentally counting the seconds – 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 seconds – before Nagisa was pulling back, eyes drifting open in time with his fluid movements.
"Well," Nagisa asked – rocking back on his heels – "how was it?" he allowed his hands to drop to his sides, arms swinging behind his back where he clasped his hands together and leaned closer once more – eager to hear Rei's answer.
Rei flushed, before he was pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose with his thumb and middle finger - averting his gaze as he swiftly turned his head to the side, "It was beautiful."
