"I finally get one of Jackie's kiddos." Sydney Watson, one of the kindergarten teachers at Jackie's school said to the other two kindergarten teachers at the school.
Jasmine had had Mrs. Rice in Kindergarten and Houston and Johnna had had Miss Pauley.
The class roster list had just come out and Sydney was happy to finally get one of Jackie's kids especially since they are all so sweet.
"No you didn't, I got Karlie." Mrs. Rice told her.
"Yes I did, look here." Sydney replied as she pointed to a name Lily Stokes.
"That's not Jackie's daughter, maybe her niece or something but it isn't her daughter."
"Oh man, really? I got so excited."
"Sorry." Mrs. Rice told her.
"Hey, look, there's Jackie now, let's go ask her if she knows Lily." Miss Pauley said as she spotted Jackie walking down the hall.
"Hey Jackie, come here a minute." The three teachers said.
Jackie turned and started heading towards them.
"What's up?" Jackie asked as she approached them.
"Do you know a Lily?" Sydney asked.
"Yeah, I know a lot of Lily's, I've had one in my class the last 3 years in fact, why?"
"No, I mean are you related to one by chance, like maybe a niece or something?"
"No, why?"
"Look." Sydney said as she pointed to her roster sheet.
"Nope, it's just a coincidence, Nick's family all live in Texas, they aren't here."
Sydney then turned her attention to Mrs. Rice.
"Rice, do you want to trade? I'll give you one of my girls if you give me Karlie."
Jackie laughed.
"You might want to meet Karlie before you offer that." Jackie told her.
"Oh, nonsense, Rice always talks about how sweet Jasmine was and Pauley does the same about Houston and Johnna, I want one of your kiddos."
"Jasmine, Houston and Johnna, are very well behaved, but Karlie is a total firecracker, I love that child more than anything in the world but she definitely keeps Nick and I on our toes. You should wait and hope you get Sloan the year after next, he's much calmer than my Karlie girl."
"Are you saying that I'll have my work cut out for me?" Mrs. Rice asked with a laugh.
"Yeah, you very well might be so exhausted after next year that you'll want to retire." Jackie quipped.
All four of the women laughed.
"Sorry ladies but I have to run, I have morning walk duty." Jackie told them.
"Last morning walk duty of the year." Sydney told her.
"Whoop, Whoop." Jackie said as she clapped her hands.
Jackie loved her job but she couldn't wait for the last day of school in three days because she treasured getting to spend the entire summer with Nick and the kids!
