Change of mind
Gellert paced the length of the room several times, waiting for the arrival of his close friend Albus.
A large grey owl fluttered down onto the dining room table, with a small envelope attached to its leg.
Gellert detached the envelope, and read it quickly. It figures that Albus would be running late on today of all days. The very day that they would be setting out on their journey and his ever punctual friend chose now to go against the grain.
Feeling a chill in the air, he non verbally lit a fire in the grate and moved closer to it to keep warm.
After another half an hour of waiting, Albus finally arrived, and Gellert rounded on his friend to ask him just what had taken him so long.
"Sorry Gellert," he whispered quietly to his hot headed friend. "Ariana wouldn't settle tonight, and as always my brother was once again listing off all the reasons why I shouldn't be your friend."
"Well you're here now, so let's get going," Gellert said picking up his bag and moving towards the door. "Wait, where are your bags Albus?" he asked, noticing for the first time that his friend had arrived empty handed.
"About that," Albus began, trying to figure how best to explain how he came to his decision." My sister needs me now more than ever, I cannot leave. Besides, the search for the Hallows has changed us both. We're obsessed with the thought of becoming the Master of Death. It's taking over our lives."
Gellert stared at his friend. He couldn't believe what he was hearing; after months of planning and searching, he was changing his mind. His eyes narrowed at Albus who had turned his back to him, and made to exit the room.
Before he exited the room, Albus turned his head and said, "Just remember what I said, okay?", before drawing the hood of his cloak up and departing the house.
Gellert was not having any of that, and chased after his friend in an effort to convince him differently. He could not believe that after all the hard work and effort they had put into finding the Hallows, Albus was going to give up now.
