Title: Silence
Rated K
Summary: No words were spoken as the clock ticked on. Nigel centric drabble. Number 15 of the 100 Theme Challenge
Disclaimer: I don't own KND
A/N: Here's another short drabble for the 100TC that I took on. It isn't much, but oh well.
No words were spoken as the clock ticked on. Not a sound could be heard.
It was the right enviornment, Nigel had figured. The entire setting seemed to elaborate this fact: the walls were enclosed and painted a dull white giving off a weird feeling. A wrong sense. A type of feeling that made you think you didn't belong there. The nurses, the doctors, their moods would change. They would be calm one moment and hectic the next. In between calm and hectic was quiet.
The whole hospital was silent.
Hours of silence, it seemed. Nigel found it most unbearable, but the funny thing was he couldn't bring himself to break it. He just sat there, twiddling his thumbs in the midst of it all, listening to nothing. Just thinking.
Thinking of how his life would change when he would finally leave the hospital. Imagining a future, outside of these white walls, a future where he'd forever be happy. A future where his life was perfect.
"Mr. Uno? Mr. Uno? Would you like to see your new daughter?"
As the nurse tentively broke the barrier of quiet Nigel found himself smiling widly, embracing the only sound he had heard in what seemed like centuries with a warm welcome.
