CHAPTER 1

"He's only a boy, he's seen too much and now that they are gone...we have but no choice but to take him with us" The man spoke with great concerned in his throat. Looking at the five year old child that clung to his cloths, he saw the tears fall down the poor boy's bloody face; putting his hand on the red headed child's head for comfort. Rubbing his head gently, in sorrow he looked up to the others with him "I'll take him in, there is no need for him to suffer anymore. He needs a family after all."

The men looked at the weary man and sighed, they very well knew he was right at the fact the little boy had no one and would never have the same comfort he had, again. "Alright, but make him useful" One of them groaned and turned away "You and the boy are to work alone, once he's able."

They all left without a goodbye, The bookman clan were in the middle of their greatest discover in time and if they lost this info it would come at a hefty price in the mere future.

The next day had arrived and the boy lay beside bookman, a sleep and crying in his sleep. Nightmarish flash backs of the night before haunted his tiny mind with dangerous effects scaring at the back of his head. His face trembled as he slept, afraid of the hellish nightmares of reality and truth.

Bookman glanced at him with the at most worried face he had given in a long time, this boy was different…Not like the rest of them, and at least that is what he thought.

Two bright green eyes opened quickly in panic and clenched to bookman as if he were to die at any second "they're gone….mom and dad, forever?"

Nodding to the boy he spoke so gently "I'm afraid it is so, dear child. They couldn't save them in time..." Turning his head to the window beside the bed, he looked far out to the outdoor world full of dangers and consequences.

"But I thought they were strong" The boy replied with surprise in his speech. Looking up with ambient tears his green eyes lit up brightly.

"Come on now boy, stop your crying. There is but too much in life to let yourself down now" Smiling with the at most care, trying to create a light in the boys heart.

Shaking his head in agreement, he took his tiny arm and wiped his own tears away "your right mister, but how…I'm scared to?" By now a five year old wouldn't truly understand the words of a grown adult, but soon enough in time he would.

"Fear is only in the mind, I will teach you how to overcome it in time" Bookman replied reassuringly.

...

A few days have passed now and the young boy managed to pull through those days with bookman just fine. Watching nearby kids play he wished he could go out and have fun just like they did.

A little girl came up to the wall that separated them "want to play with us?" She gave out a vibrant tender smile; her eyes sparkled like the blue ocean towards him.

A expression of shock and excitement raced through his face "boy do I ever!" he lifted one small leg over the wall and the other soon followed and he hit the ground laughing at how he had gotten over.

The little girl smiled and held out her hand "what's your name?" "Mines, Alice." She giggled to the boy as she propped him up onto his feet.

The boy pointed to himself as if he was something great "names Lucifer!" He gave a great proud smile as soon as he was finished introducing himself to Alice.

Bookman walked into the yard to find Lucifer, only to see the boy nowhere in sight. Concerned thoughts pattered across the man's mind till he heard the sound of children.
