Disclaimer: Obviously, I don't own Harry Potter. It's a children's book, still, isn't it?

Chapter 1: I quote

- - -

There were no goodbye parties, reluctantly awkward goodbye-waves, and promises of 'See you later!'

There was no one to see him off, no one to return to, no one to watch him walk farther and farther.

There was nothing to hold him back. They had no reason to hold him back.

But he found himself wishing that there were someone to hold him back, someone who wanted him to remain, someone to make him feel human. Hell, he wanted to be human - but he forgot how to be. Or maybe he just never knew at all.

But he couldn't afford humanity.

He had a country (possibly world) to rebuild, an obstacle to Avada Kedavra, a heritage to claim and a (quite the opposite of submissive) population to lord over.

With no one beside him; it's a reminder of a child's hope from the past, and a well-expected feeling of loneliness for the future – and of humanity he could no longer claim.

But as they say, "No rest for the wicked."

Obviously, someone forgot to mention that pretty much anything else was a 'no' for the Wicked.
