A Life Worth Living
As he stepped through the barrier between platforms nine and ten, Draco Malfoy was sure that this year would be just like all of the others he had spent before it. What should be different about his sixth year at Hogwarts? Nothing that's what! When you've spent your whole life thinking that nothing is going to go right, then its kind of hard to break the habit. And he surely wasn't up for the task of trying.
His summer had sucked, as had all of the summers before it. The only thing that was worth even remembering was when his father had been caught helping some other Death Eaters for Voldermort and had been sent to Azkaban. At least now he didn't have to worry about getting told off for being to nice to Potter and his friends. Oh well, better to just dwell on the horrid future than the equally horrid past.
As he stepped on the Hogwarts Express, he ran face first into Hermione Granger, the one and only female in the Dream Team as Harry Potter and his friends were called. The other member of the trio was Ron Weasley. He was one of seven children and perhaps the most annoying of the bunch.
"Sorry Hermione didn't see you!" Draco said offhandedly as he kept walking down the hall looking for an empty compartment. He came upon a compartment that had one seat left, and seeing as how he couldn't find any empty ones, he asked, "Is it okay if I sit with you guys? There are no more empty compartments and I have no where to sit."
A boy to his left replied, "Its fine with us, if you don't mind sitting with a bunch of Americans." The boy had bleached blonde hair; he wasn't exactly fat so much as short and muscular. Well, muscular was being a little too nice. He was just horizontally and vertically challenged. "My name is Carub, and this idiot on my left is my older brother Cain, that other idiot there is my little brother Cody, and that angel is mysister Caden."
"Hello, I'm Draco Malfoy, I'm a sixth year Slytherin here at Hogwarts. So, you all are from America. Where exactly in the states are you guys from?" Well, might as well make small talk until we get to the school. Plus, Caden is seriously hot and who knows, she might be worth talking to!
"Oh we're from Pleasant Ridge, Kentucky, but we went to school in Salem. We're what everyone where we lived would call 'country hicks'." Cain said this though he seemed more interested in the view outside than in what was going on inside the compartment.
"Ignore Cain, if he seems a little stand-off-ish it's because he had to leave his girlfriend Sonya to come here. We all had to make a lot of changes. Like Caden, she's quite famous back in the U.S. because she's a singer, but once we gort here, she had to quit singing because her company wouldn't produce her songs from all the way over here. Stupid huh?" Cody, who had been quite since Draco had stepped in was now looking at Caden and poking her in the ribs.
"Wait a second. Your a singer from the states, and assuming that you sing for the magical community, I would say that your Caden of the band Sierianado. Am I right?" Draco hoped he was right because Sierianado was his favorite band.
Caden, who had been silent this whole time looked at Draco with a smirk on her face and said, "Yeah that would be me. Whats it matter?"
As Draco watched the smirk on her face get even bigger, he thought, 'This is going to be a very interesting year.!'
