A/N: First chaptereh, whee! I'm hoping this'll be a pretty long story, and that I won't procrastinate in writing this, even though I probably will…and that you all will like it and leave me reviews! Hehe. I have high hopes for this fic, as you can tell. Thanks to my beta, PsychoticButterfly, who didn't help me at all with the title of this story.

Here we go!

Chapter One: Potter Turns in Pink Slip

Potter Turns in Pink Slip-February 6, 2004

Quickly scribbled by Julienne LeGronne, Daily Prophet Staff Writer, London Ministry Correspondent

MINISTRY OF MAGIC-In a very surprising move last night, Mr. Harry Potter, also known as the Boy Who Lived, turned in a resignation form to the Auror Headquarters. It will take effect as of March 1.

There is a lot of speculation on what job Potter will take next, as he had always said that he wanted to be an Auror. Many think he may become a professional Quidditch player or might even bump off the current Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge. A statement from Fudge's press representative says that there is "absolutely no truth in that prediction whatsoever…Mr. Fudge believes that Mr. Potter would make a fine Minister, but the current Minister has no intent on leaving at the moment."

Fudge has been Minister of Magic for over 15 years now. He holds seniority over about three quarters of the Ministry's staff. Potter has been working at the Ministry for 5 years, spending three training as an Auror.

It is also plausible that Potter may just stay unemployed. It is said that he has received so much in royalties from products that bear his name that he should be able to live two lifetimes in luxury. The Prophet does not think that he will stay between jobs, as his good friend, Cannons Keeper Ron Weasley states that "Harry likes to keep busy. It keeps him away from bad memories." Mr. Weasley's wife, Hermione Granger, a Healer for St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, agreed, saying that "He never really liked living off his parents' money…He's very humble that way."

Very humble he is. No wonder he has a fan club that has such a large population. Mr. Potter is unmarried at the moment, and many eligible women would kill for a single date with him. He is rumored to be quite the gentleman, "He was a very nice date at the Yule Ball in our fourth year," said Gladrags designer Parvati Patil.

Although he has many admirers, he has only had a handful of relationships, none of which were steady. All took place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, over five years ago. Hopefully there will be a lucky lady in his life. This reporter certainly thinks so!

The Prophet is still trying to contact Mr. Potter as to why he has resigned and where he is going next, but is so far unsuccessful in their attempts. We hope to be the first to bring you this information.
