Prompt: Luna and Harry leaving the UK for Seattle
Dedication: Magi Silverwolf
Word Count: (Per Google Docs) 300
It was Luna's idea to leave the United Kingdom the Muggle way. It made disappearing from the British magical world easiest for them. Magic left traces. Portkey clearance had questions and records made, apparition was not a viable choice, and forget the monitored Floo Network. If their destination was more local and not across the pond–quite far across, in fact–they would've flown by broom or magical creature instead.
Luna was excited to board the giant metal bird, grabbing Harry's hand as they headed for their terminal's gate. "It will be another first of ours, Harry."
"Definitely won't be the last, I'm sure."
"Naturally."
He was nervous, to say the least. It was Luna's bubbly excitement, and the promise of their new life awaiting them, that kept him calm as they located their sea-worthy plane. Nothing but their rucksacks and small suitcases in hand, they settled in a seat by the window looking out to the tarmac. Luna pulled a sketchpad from her bag and drew while Harry simply watched in silence.
International security gave them grief on how light their luggage was, but it wasn't anything they couldn't handle. They brought what was needed, the rest would be purchased. Starting new and fresh was the goal.
The United Kingdom took too much from them in their youth, and after it decided to take Neville away from them, too, there was nothing left for them here anymore. He would want them to move on, to live and be happy. So that was what they were doing. The final destination was Seattle, Washington – The Emerald City. The two found the name enchanting, promising, a place that appreciated someone's dream and knew art.
"Flight Number 7022 to Toronto, Canada now boarding First Class."
Luna grabbed Harry's hand and smiled.
"Ready?"
"Of course."
