The journey was finally complete. To be more exact, it's been completed for about eight years to the day. The Elric brothers had gone their own ways, down different paths. No one saw it coming, not even the brothers themselves. Al had got his body back, thanks to his brother. Ed managed to get his arm and leg back as well. Everything was fine.

For a while at least.

Who knew he'd come back? No one… that's why it was a surprise for everyone when they found his body. Poor Al, though. He was the first to find it. Twenty-four years old and he felt like a little child again just thinking about it. The incident happened a few weeks after Al's marriage to Winry. He was twenty-two, making Ed twenty-three.

Twenty-three. A horrid age to have your life taken from you. Al was devastated by the loss. He knew better than to try and bring him back with Alchemy. He made a promise that he wouldn't try that again. So, he did the only other thing there was. He didn't want to live without his brother. So, he took his own life, because where Ed went, he followed close behind.

The Brother's were well known for their accomplishments in the war for the Philosopher's Stone. There were memorials around Central for them, so no one would forget their contributions.

Years went by, and statues erode over time. Soon, you couldn't tell the statues apart from a heap of rock. Gathered information on their existence went unnoticed by the newer generation of alchemists. There was only one major article left about them, written before an illness took his life. He was the only one who really remembered them. They were his subordinates after all.

The brothers had luck on their side, though it was a small percentage. But their skill and willpower made up for the lack of. They rarely had any pleasure in their search for the Stone, save for the comfort of each other. Both Ed and Al went through horrendous pain in their life, what with loosing their mother, destroying their home, the sacrifices they made. Pain made up half of their life.

But Roy Mustang would never forget them. He would never forget what they did and what they went through. He signed the article, hoping that people could remember them, and they would soon regain the respect they worked so hard to get, whether they wanted it or not.

Hawkeye remember them. Havoc, Furey, Breda, Armstrong… they all remembered them. Winry would never forget them, no matter how hard she tried. Pinako would always have them in her mind. The Tringum brothers were close to forgetting, but held onto the memories.

As for Roy, he would always remember them and his last thought were the two alchemists as he closed his eyes for the last time.

A/N: I really don't know what possessed me to write this oneshot. For some reason, I just felt like I needed to write it. The idea I had was better in my head though. Oh well. If you all want to flame, that's fine. It's not the best I've done. Does it even make sense? Reviews and flames welcome.
