An innocent suggestion

Sam lay in her sleeping bag, listening to the sound of water hitting canvas. SG-1 was on a standard recon mission to P3X-783 and, since Daniel had found some ruins that may lead them to some ancient culture who may know something about something, they were to stay on the planet for a couple of days while Daniel sorted it out.

Jack had worked out the tents in his usual way; using a rota system. Ordinarily he would have put one Air Force officer with one civilian or, alternatively, one scientist with one 'warrior'. However, SG-1 was not an ordinary team. Sam was a scientist, a warrior and an Air Force officer, and so Jack decided that they would use a rota system to solve the whole problem. That way no-one could start any rumours of favouritism and the like.

And so here Sam was, in a tent with Colonel O'Neill and listening to the rain on the tent. She listened as it gradually got heavier and heavier.

"I think it's hail now!" Jack's voice said from her side.

"I thought you were asleep." Sam said looking over at the sleeping bag beside her, which began to move until Jack's head was now showing.

"It's too early to sleep." He said, looking over at her. "Anyway, how come you're awake?"

Sam laughed. "It's too early."

Looking at his watch, Jack saw that it was only half past eight. They had been sitting around a fire at dinner time, but the rain had soon put an end to that, and the best, and only, thing they could now do, was to go to the tents. But Sam and Jack were right; it was too early to try to go to sleep.

"So how do you know it's hail?" Sam asked, trying to find anything that might spark a conversation.

Jack propped himself up on his elbow, facing her. "Well, for a start, it sounds like it's trying to punch right through the canvas of the tent."

Sam listened again. It did sound like that.

"So, what do you want to do to pass the time?" Sam said, propping herself up to mirror Jack.

Jack looked at her and grinned, a playful look in his eye.

Sam laughed again. "Sir, really?"

"Well, it was just a suggestion. Right enough, Danny and T would hear and probably ruin it."

"We already can hear you!" Came Daniel's voice from the other tent.

"Well then you'll know that we were talking about what to do before we try sleeping again." Jack replied.

"And I know exactly what you were thinking." Daniel shouted back, laughing slightly.

"Daniel Jackson, I do not believe that Major Carter and O'Neill would risk intercourse." Teal'c's voice rang out.

Sam laughed again.

"You guys have a really dirty mind. You know that? I was talking about playing 20 questions!" Jack said, innocently.

Sam laughed even harder, and they decided that maybe they should just try to sleep again, to save any more confusion.
