Tiny white sculptures
Team night was a wonderful thing. It gave SG-1 time to relax and spend time together when they weren't being shot at or having to write mission reports. They would all get together at Jack's house and have some beers, watch some movies and just relax.
One snowy evening, the team was relaxing while watching "The Simpson's", beer in hand, when Daniel noticed that Sam wasn't in the room. Getting up and wandering about, Daniel finally stopped at the sliding doors to the back yard.
"Guys," he shouted over his shoulder, "you have to come and see this."
"Did you find her?" Jack said getting up and moving towards the doors to stand by Daniel.
Outside, in the back garden, was Sam. She seemed to be building something out of the snow. Taking a closer look, Jack saw that it was a ring. He grabbed his shoes and opened the door, heading out.
"Whatcha doin'?" He said as he bent down next to where Sam was kneeling.
Sam looked up at him and then back to the ring without saying anything. Jack followed her gaze and it then it dawned on him; she was building a Stargate. His eyes widened as Daniel and Teal'c came out to join them.
As Sam finished her Stargate, complete with ramp, Jack began to work on his own sculpture and Daniel also began to build something out of snow.
"I do not understand the meaning of this." Teal'c said from behind them.
"Well, it's...it's fun." Daniel said, not really knowing how to explain it.
Jack placed 4 little sculptures onto the ramp that Sam had built. They were little snowmen, one covered in dirt.
"It's us!" Jack grinned.
Behind the Stargate, Daniel had made a pyramid.
"That's our destination; Abydos!"
Teal'c looked at the little snow model that now occupied most of Jack's back yard. The most surprising part was that it actually looked like what it was supposed to. The Stargate had all the chevrons and symbols etched into using a stick, the little figures were just like normal snowmen except they each had the symbol for Earth on the side and the one that was supposed to be Teal'c was covered in dirt and had the emblem etched into the tiny forehead. The pyramid had a little door on the front, just like the real one on Abydos had. All in all, Teal'c was impressed.
The team stood back and looked at their creation.
"Not bad, eh?" Jack said, nudging Sam's shoulder with his.
She turned and grinned at him.
"By the way," Jack continued, "How did you make the Stargate actually stay up without having anything in the middle?"
"Well sir, all I had to do was to make sure that I got the physics right. You see..."
"All right, it doesn't matter." Jack cut her off before she could get too technical.
"Lets get back inside, it's freezing out here." Daniel said, and immediately turned and went back into the warmth of Jack's house.
Teal'c followed, leaving only Sam and Jack.
"I'll have to take a picture of this before it melts." Jack said. "What made you want to do it in the first place?"
"Just something I used to do when I was a child. I would challenge myself to make tiny model out of the snow, just to see if I could." Sam replied, not taking her eyes off the little white sculpture.
Jack put his arm around her shoulders and kissed the top of her head lightly.
"C'mon!" He said pulling her in the direction of the house. "Let's get back inside before we become part of the exhibit!"
And with that, the two of them turned and headed back into the comfort of the house, grabbing their beers before sitting back down to watch more TV.
