Author's Note:
This was written for my Zexion… she's not feeling so great right now, so I decided to write her a little something to cheer her up, since words never do the trick in my case… (I ALWAYS MAKE THINGS WORSE –cough- ;_;)
Andd… the song that Demyx sings for Zexion is Stand In The Rain by Superchick, although some of the words are different since it talks about a girl in the song. xD
So… enjoy, Zexy. I hope this fanfic brightens your day even a little bit.
Demyx popped his head into Zexion's room, blinking at the sudden blackness. "Zexy… you here?" He couldn't see his slate-haired friend anywhere. Once his eyes focused, however, he could plainly see the shape of the Schemer laying in his bed, and the faint sound of sniffing.
Was he… crying? Zexion never cried…
Making his way over to his friend's bed, he sat on the sheets next to the small, curled up figure. He could plainly see the shining tears as they slid down the pale face, eyes closed tight. "Zexy…?"
"G-go away, IX…" came the soft voice belonging to the crying figure next to him.
"No… You're obviously sad… I can't leave…" Demyx replied, his own eyes filling with as much hurt as they could contain, if they even could hold feelings in the first place. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing…" Zexion obviously lied, sniffing again and lifting a hand from under the sheets to wipe the wetness on his face away.
Demyx frowned. What could he possibly say? Zexion, when he was upset, got angrier easily, and he didn't want to be attacked or anything… He was afraid to even touch the frail looking Schemer next to him.
But he knew one thing that would work.
The room brightened for a moment as the shining water brought his sitar to his hands, and he grasped it firmly. He sensed Zexion turning his head to see what was going on as he climbed off the bed, kneeling in front of him.
"Here… Just listen," Demyx told Zexion. The reply was just a blink, and another sniff.
The blonde-haired nobody strummed the sitar in a slow sort of tune, nodding his head slowly to keep the beat, and then he began to sing, replacing the words a bit to fit this situation.
"He never slows down…He doesn't know why but he knows that when he's all alone, feels like its all coming down," Demyx sang quietly, strumming every note on tune, his voice flowing perfectly in tune with the music. He heard Zexion move himself a bit, and smiled up at him before he continued.
"He won't turn around… The shadows are long and he fears if he cries that first tear, the tears will not stop raining down." Zexion had lifted himself into a sitting position, wiping away the tears and listening carefully to the song. Demyx was glad he wasn't hurting his friend at all by saying something unnecessary- singing always worked.
"So stand in the rain, stand your ground, stand up when it's all crashing down…" the blonde continued, at this point gazing up at Zexion with his glowing green eyes, almost pleading for the Schemer to apply his song's words to his situation.
"You stand through the pain, you won't drown…"He smiled, tipping his head a bit.
"And one day, what's lost can be found, when you stand in the rain…"
Cutting his song off after the chorus, he strummed the last note, gazing up at Zexion, whose face was dry now, tears no longer falling from his cheeks. His mouth opened a bit, and Demyx expected words… yet they didn't come out for another few moments while the slate-haired nobody collected his thoughts.
"Can you… play more?" were the first words he said.
"Gladly," Demyx replied, strumming his sitar and moving onto the next notes.
He would always play for Zexion. Even past the final chord.
Hope you liked it… review if you'd like 3
